I like Ubuntu but they should just fork Mint's software center and steal cinnamon menu unity dash because they made a nice thing with the global menu and sidebar but unity dash is shit

Using Ubuntu with any other DE isn't a bad idea though. I have a Thinkpad X60s running Ubuntu with LXDE on a 60GB SSD and it performs just fine.
