I have a windowed case, wish I had got the solid panel version.

Fucking never again. I bought it on offer when it was cheaper than the solid panel version. I hated windows before buying it, and now I hate them more.

I have a 300r non windowed.

I honestly wouldnt reccomedn it as a mid tower case. The cable management room means the back panel has a slight bulge to it and the front panel is quite cheap feeling.

I'd have to go with OPs case.
Great build quality and most importantly dust filters everywhere and well thought out inner design.
Doesn't require any modding or additional tinkering to be good unlike many other cases, and it doesn't look like edgy gaymer shit, nor does it look to pretentious on the elegance and minimalism side.

I use a server for stuff like that. Small system with room for 5 hot-swappable drives that sits in the corner of my bedroom.

What's wrong with making it a high end desktop workstation?
>>
>>53677861
A bunch of random drives and gaming components doesn't make a high end workstation.
>>
>>53677928
I'm not who you were replying to earlier. I have a 5820k, 32GB DDR4 3200mhz, with a GTX 960 (cheapest GPU with HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 for my 4k UP3216Q monitor).

It's mainly used for encoding and as I said seeding large amounts of files. I also have 2 500GB SSDs for stuff I'm encoding.

My case is a corsair 750D because I like the way it looks. It still a high end workstation

Maybe if you're a retard

A gaming desktop would have an i5 and 16 or 8 GB of RAM. And a more powerful GPU, or two.

I mean I own a 4k monitor and a GTX 960. What games do you think I'm gonna be playing at 4k with a single 960? (Hint, I don't play games)

Why? Dual socket adds tons of possible issues as well, unless you need the parrallized processing of multiple CPUs you're usually better using a higher clocked single CPU.

you have posted the wrong image mate.
dont worry, I've got you covered.

That's just how things are.

Starting with mid range spec (HP Z series, Lenovo D...) workstations all have dual cpu and ecc ram.
>>
>>53678308
Oh well if you're talking what OEMs are shoveling out sure. They'll configure you a quad socket if you feel so inclined.

No doubt it's nice machine but it still doesn't fall under definition of workstation.

As per wiki:

"modern workstations typically use multiple multicore CPUs, error correcting memory and much larger on-die caches than those found on "consumer-level" CPUs."

"together with multiple CPUs with greater cache and error correcting memory, this may remain the distinguishing feature of a workstation today."

To be fair you're supposed to build your computer for extra performance and parts tailored to your needs, not to stuff it with a gazillion gaymer leds and childish "air intakes" resembling fighter jets.
>>
Still the most powerful case out there. It is missing a few modern things (14cm fans, no proper fan slots on the top, no removable 5.25 cages), but it makes up for all of those by the incredible build quality and the thick HDD grommets.
And you see all those 5.25 slots? You can stick in 4 extra HDDs in there, in case the 6 already inside is not enough.

I went back from the Fractal Design Define to the P183. Twice.

I guess the HAF 912 isn't a meme anymore? I'm still using it and liked it for a year. Now realized I should've got something with easier to remove filters, maybe a bottom intake instead of a side, and a noise baffle on the front instead of an open mesh to block noise. I guess something like a Define R5.

I really want this case. 5 1/4" bays can be replaced with 120mm fans. Can be rackmounted.

Wish coolermaster kept making ATC cases.

>>

>>
>>53683998
>pretty much identical to a define r5 desu senpai

Other than the Define having abysmal build quality.
>>
>>53683998
All aluminium. R5 has a lot of plastic, and plastic bits that are supposed to look like brushed aluminium. R5 cannot be rackmounted. R5 does not have the same modular design where you can remove and replace the 5 1/4" bays.

R5 also has some rather ugly vents on the side and top, and does not have the same quality of construction as the ATC cases.

Fractal Design cases are pretty cheap. ATC used to be high end when they were made.
>>
>>53681058
that's pretty expensive...

never heard of this brand though, but looking through their stuff they seem to have some good looking stuff.
>>
>>53684103
>>53684103
The side and top vents are "hidden" behind retractable case-parts. The point is to unhide them when you want to add more fans. You can also absolutely remove all the bays in a modular fashion, it's even one of the main "features".

Didn't know about the build quality/material, though.
>>
>>53681515
Not the green one though (unless it matches the room theme).
I have a white one and it's beautiful, I wish I could use the solid panel on the side that normally has a window though.
>>
>>53684281
Forgot to mention, the power LED is brighter than the sun.
>>
>>53684276
Those vents aren't exactly hidden when you cover them up in an obvious way like that. They don't look good, and are pretty useless, unless you want to use a 240x120mm radiator. This is more or less the same as many cases by corsair and cooler mater.

The R5 is modular in that you can remove the drive bays and use the free space for a reservoir or something like that. Not the same as the modularity in the ATC 410.

My point earlier wasn't that the case was modular, but that you could easily replace those bays and use them for fans instead. It is an old case, but can still hold up today due to the ability to "upgrade" to dual 120mm intake fans.

Some old lian-li cases are like that too, came with 80mm fan mounts, but has upgrades for 120mm fans.

Is that your counter argument?

I want an ATC 410 instead of a Define R5 because I think it suits me better. Is that so bad?

I don't need top and side panel fans. Using more than two fans doesn't give much of an improvement in temperatures in my experience. I don't use watercooling, so I don't need mounts for a radiator either. I don't think the plastic covers on the R5 looks good. They look cheap.

ATC 410 is perfect for me. 120mm fans in the front, rackmountable and still looks good enough for the livingroom.

>>53688596
A crap PSU can kill your hardware and shutdown your PC unexpectedly, a bad case will force you to insert metal objects to stabilize it so it doesn't rattle and may make some setups impossible without hardware damage if you don't pay up extra on e.g. a water-cooling solution - that is, if your case even have the space for it.

So they're about equal in the end. The difference is that even a crappy PSU will either never work, or work well enough that you won't notice a problem for a few months at least before crapping out.
A case will prevent your shit from working from the get go, and can develop rattling over time (rattling is so loud that you'll never be able to use your computer without first dealing with it).

So when I'm working inside it, I have plenty of room.

Why wouldn't you want a case with plenty of room? There's nothing worse than trying to deal with cable management and there just isn't enough room to move, or trying to pull out a GPU and the drive cage prevents your hand getting behind it/to the retention clip/etc.

It's mostly vertical space, and maybe 1 or 2 cm wider. Fits under most desks (every desk I've encountered) just fine. Using a smaller case would just result in a larger gap between the top of the PC and the bottom of the desk.

They're the worst. Every single standoff should be optional. Not every motherboard have holes for the standoff I highlighted here, so you have to modify the case to use such a motherboard.

Got this bby right here. Would love a Fractal or a NZXT case but they don't seem to sell over here.
>>
>>53693590
Very few that don't, however. ATX, EATX and MATX all do I think. ITX misses it. I can't think of one that would foul on that.
>>
>>53693708
I have a couple of boards that's missing that screw hole. But that standoff isn't as bad as the ones other cases have. It is one of those Gigabyte AM3 boards.

They look dumb and ugly. Like a fridge
>>
>>53693647
empty space doesn't give good airflow. Fractal meme cases certainly don't.
That case is so wide it could easily fit dual 180mm intake fans. Tripple if they dispense with the optical bays and make it 5cm taller, but Fractal is too retarded to put any thought into their cases other than "big black box".

Please recommend cases to replace the hell I live with, pic related.
I'm after premium silent cases that offer high airflow if they exist, dunno good cases these days.

Cosmos S needs replacing, its my i7 gaming pc, got to have plenty drive bays.
Need to put a 24/7 BOINC AM3+ build into either the Antec or the Corsair case for the time being, but that will be replaced as well!
Suggest away

TJ08-E is the 10/10 goat case

>tfw mATX, not too big not too small
>tfw inverted layout
>tfw removable hdd cage with support for mass # drives
>tfw aluminum and understated looks

What kills it for me is that dumb fan filter at the top.
>>
>>53697202
That's for the power supply intake. I never notice it really. When its sitting on desk, its out of my sight line. When its under the desk I don't see it at all.
>>
>>53697202
Wish they would've placed it in the centre.

that's retarded. Especially with the PSU at the top. Even more so because Silverstone has the patent on vertical motherboard placement.
>>
>>53697665
But PSU at the top is how most cases are. After all the hot air is supposed to leave a case through the PSU.
>>
It was more expensive than the windowed version for some reason but I don't give a fuck. My last case had a window and I didn't care for it.

This thing is pretty fucking meaty, that sound dampening material is quite heavy and solid. It's got tons of room for fans, lots of cable management space, and room for a few drives even with taking out the bottom 3.5" drive cage.
Also quiet as fuck with a 200mm fan in the front. I only wish it had the fan controller that the taller F51 has.

nice Fractal ripoff
>>
>there will never be a case where you can fit two SoC mini-ITX boards that share the same power supply and smaller, thinner, and shorter than a Fractal R5
Whelp, time to build my own case then

Good case, pretty much an upgraded R5. The fan controller on the F51 is not worth it for that alone, just use speedfan or a multi-fan controller. Some dedicated ssd spots would have been great and more than 2 bays in the front.
