Very few of the papers I've taken have had required textbooks. Occasionally there are some "optional" textbooks for extra stuff, but I'm not going to waste my money on that shit.
"Operating Systems Design and Implementation (3rd Edition)" was one of the required textbooks, which I skim-read a PDF of.
