Quick question - can you access android system files from a PC? Pic related
Can it be done without root?
Someone sad adb? I'm pretty sure, someone did say adb.

Do you need your phone to be rooted?

You can access filesystem with adb without root, you won't be able to do anything with /data, but that wasn't in OP question.

Yeah, that was what I was getting at. So you can't read it without root? Files I'm interested in are in /data.
The reason I ask anyways is that I was poking around /data/data/ and found a certain security app storing shit in fucking plaintext. What I'm wondering is if this is a huge security hole or intended behaviour
You can access it via backup, like this guy did http://blog.shvetsov.com/2013/02/access-android-app-data-without-root.htmladb backup -f ~/data.ab -noapk app.package.name
then unpack itdd if=data.ab bs=1 skip=24 | openssl zlib -d | tar -xvf -
and mess with it however you wanted.
