So guys, I used a power drill to assemble my new PC, and I mounted the CPU cooler with it also. Now whenever I nudge my PC at all it shuts down and refuses to turn back on for a few hours.

Fuck PC, if it takes that much finesse to assemble one and its so finicky I don't see how it's so great

>install CPU cooler with a power drill

Dr Pavel, I'm bait.
>>
The mounting around the PCB for the motherboard doesn't really matter, as it's got no real conductive parts. But did you use a drill for your CPU cooler's retentioner? That may have done something really obscure like crush your socket.

They're PC's, not construction equipement or industrial grade electrical panels. You taking about parts with electrical channels smaller than human hairs, the fuck do you expect?
>>
>>
>>53588035
I didn't have a screw driver on hand

>>53588058
Yep
>>
>>53588120
So then what's probably happening is if you "nudge" your PC as you say, it's probably causing a short on the CPU somewhere. Did you also use the drill for your HDD's/SSD's, or were those in tool-less bays?

You should really just use a screw driver next time, man. Hand tight. Again, you don't have to crush the stuff, but tight enough where the screws themselves won't come loose.

What the fuck is that? Do you happen to mean an electric drill motor? The drill is the pointy, swirly thing you can stick in the end, that strangely enough, drills holes. You would not need a drill at all for driving screws.

Also, stop over-torquing shit. You'll strip the threads, faggot.

Hey op, the integrity and positioning of the power cable into the power supply is bad.

Also, when it doesn't turn on for a few hours, you need to reset the cmos battery.

Also, why didn't you use standoffs, faggot?

That thing has different clutch settings, so you don't overtorque screws.
>no standoffs
rip in peperoni
>>
haha. i did this. recently built a computer and used a power drill to drive the screws into the wood. drill slipped and scratched off 3 resistors from the pcb... now only one of the sockets and 6 of 16 ram slots work. but other then that, the board is apparently fine. expensive mistake tho. had to buy another board.
>>
>>53588275
Then that makes you blind and retarded. Please consult a reasonable adult when assembling computers.
>>
>>53588279
The case comes with none and apparently they're not needed for it

"While the manual says there are four extra standoffs included for motherboards, I only count one. This instantly means a problem for you folks looking to put MATX boards into this case. It has built in standoffs for normal size ATX boards, but you would need these extra ones for the two MATX mounting holes provided."

I do this atleast 5 times a day... set the drill to its lowest speed and have the correct torque settings correct and you have no problems.

If the case didn't have any stand-off's and you drilled it to a case, please tell me the the exposed back part of the motherboard is not screwed to a metal sheet.

You can actually use some older Xeons on Socket 775 boards even though the sockets are diferent-ish. You need to know though if the mobo supports it and there are some modifications that need to be done like patching the BIOS and putting a sticker on 2 or 3 contacts on the CPU.

Those smug forum motherfuckers can go and eat a bag of dicks.

Or drills for short, as they are commonly called. Now pictured to your left are...wait for it...tool bits! Otherwise called tools for short.

Hey OP try this, I've only seen 2 people doing it (due to the risk it means)

Go and literally put your mobo in the oven at 77c or so, if it is a problem of bad connection this reflush should try fixing any loose connections or solders, btw do not let it heat a lot or the plastic parts will fuck up

Video of the guy that tried this before: http://youtu.be/TfhmBcBPNyc
Just skip to 12:20 to see what I'm saying
