ARCH SHILLS B T F O

arch is a meme, it cannot even boot if you swap sataport btw your drives.. technology for the cave ages..

That's just if you have a retaded fstab

tell y it isnt universal for every OS and program.. arch is a meme

>tell y it isnt universal for every OS and program
Because not every user has the same disks and partitions, thus needing a different fstab.
>>

It's minimalistic compared to things like *buntu. The Arch Way is retarded though

shill?? how half of the time i see people claiming the meme status, something about systemd, how useless it is or why everyone who uses it it's a neck beard pedophile weabo.

Arch was already my main distro for about 5 years at that point and he wants to tell other people what Arch is about?
Thank god I jumped ship already.

I don't know and don't care what is the "arch way" or other ideology behind it.
But I installed Arch because I wanted to learn more small details about my system, mess around with small things, see what can break my system and what can I use to fix it. Using arch feels like you have way more control over everything, gives you more freedom and don't spoonfeed you.
I've chosen it to get experience with linux in a hard way and it surely helped me in it.
>>
arse was one of the first to switch to systemd years ago before hate for it became a meme, init was working too well for them and it wasn't psuedo-hard enough so they had to switch to something le different face at the time.
Now that everyone else has accepted it and it's become mainstream, the arch anti-way bylaws dictate that it must be chopped out with openrc, not tell anyone they're going to do it, and break everyone's shit again to give them a nice project for 3-4 days.
Remember to put your ironic complaints in a mailing list and not a forum because come on now forums are too mainstream and good for secret club pioneers like us.
>>
>>53586954
are you serious? I use arch and I have never tried this. Shouldn't it work as long as your fstab uses UUID's?

To be as different as possible
to create the most pointless work to fill up that blank schedule
to forever be a contrarian to people you meet online, it's sometimes hard to be a dick to people but since you always use some more obscure way of doing it, that's the perfect excuse to spout and scream about it

Catch-22 though because you can actually meet other people online doing the same shit which is why unlike any other distro most of them drop linux altogether and go for BSD or haiku and then pretend there instead
>>
>>53587514
You know literally every distro, including ubuntu, has a netinstall version, which just like arch is just a bare iso that boots you into a TTY?
>>
>>53590852
I boot my Arch from USB and I can plug it in any port on any PC because I use GPT. What are you smoking?

>To be as different as possible

None of this is even true. There's little to seperate Arch from any other distro besides bleeding edge, pacman, and the AUR.If you believe otherwise, your no different than the handful of idiot meme-spouters who say otherwise. There's plenty of distros out there that are harder to install than Arch and nobody jumps on those users. If anyone is trying to be contrarian,it's mongoloids like yourself who boil with anger when they see Arch growing in popularity each day. Also, since the adoption of Systemd Linux-wide,there's one less reason to avoid Arch.
>>

And don't say Memejaro or Antergos, that is more retarded than using Arch.

This is just trolling at this point. systemd is the future and any neckbearded idiot that doesn't understand that it is a vast improvement over everything in the past without compromising SHIT can just stay in his basement with his flickering CRTs and Pentium3 processor computer burning files to CDs while arguing on usenet.

Antergos is just arch with a nice installer.

Arch is a meme.

Everyone on /g/ uses architect to install it but post the wiki install article to convince people they are "smart".

I tired explaining this to an Arch nigger yesterday to no avail - that Arch is NOT minimal. The only differences in their packages and like Ubuntu's are that
>Arch includes development headers rather than splitting into -dev packages
>Arch strips debug symbols from binaries
>Arch applies less patches
>>
>>53594956
>baking a cake is harder than installing arch (or gentoo)
Dual boot UEFI install was quite the pain in the ass for a beginner tbqh fampai.
>>
>>53595192
Seriously...dual booting arch is a serious pain in the fucking ass when it comes to partitioning.
>>
>>53595190
>>Arch includes development headers rather than splitting into -dev packages
>>Arch strips debug symbols from binaries
>>Arch applies less patches
That's a part of the reasons why I like Arch.
>>
>>53591550
Just use Architect ffs... straight forward and less spergy than installing arch from the wiki
>>
>>53595218
Well now that I went through it properly I don't consider it hard anymore, but you have to collect information from the ass crack of the internet when you encounter obscure obstacles.
At least I learned quite a bit during that endeavor.
>>
>>53594708
Yeah... I used Architect, but I really couldn't give a bigger shit about installing from the wiki. Using Arch fixed many issues I had with Debian.
>>
>>53595236
I didn't mean to suggest any of that was bad, just that it's not really ``minimal''
>>
>>53595190
>Arch strips debug symbols from binaries
Doesn't every distro do that? Slackware does at least.

Also, Arch also removes all the software documentation, except for the man pages. Which can be really annoying.
>>
>>53595260
What kind of obscure obstacles?
>>
>>53586892
i run gnubuntu, is arch better?
>>
>>53595306
USB stick wouldn't boot in UEFI mode for instance, and I had to replace certain files until it worked. There was also other stuff I encountered that I don't remember well anymore. And after discovering os-prober everything got more simple too.
>>
>>53586892
What if I'm not all buttflustered over systemd?
Should I still listen to this retard's chimp-out?
>>
Eh. I use Arch because the AUR. It's just to fucking comfortable to ever let go.
>>
>>53595260
obscure obstacles can be just as much of, if not even more, a problem with an installer, especially a really simple one like the one Arch used to have
>>
>>53595359
>OS prober
I've never installed arch. I'm guessing this can help you in a dual boot by telling you which partition Windows OS is in, so you know more clearly how to partition the drive?
>>
>>53595273
Yes, I know.
>>
>>53595423
more like lets grub see them
>>
>>53595423
Shows grub where other OS are. grub-mkconfig will do the rest.
>>
>>53595485
>>53595499
How is it used in an Arch installation? Do you just have to install it after installing GRUB, and then I assume run the grub-mkconfig command? Then at boot you should see the option to boot into different partitions?
>>
>>53595586
pretty much yeah
>>
>>53594652
you debug shit, if something breaks you google it and if theres no fix you just reinstall system, thats the way of a linux. have a nice day reinstalling shit over and over
