next time try installing something aimed at a user like you

Try reddit, OP.
>>53579153
Depends on application. Could be -100% if you do it wrong. With the right flags, 30-50% in most applications, up to 200% in some cases.

Next time download a VDI, use it and then drop it into the trash.

I see your problem, OP
A couple of months ago I did a controlled test where I measured the power consumption of my PC running Ubuntu and then Gentoo.
Gentoo used more power over a month period than Ubuntu. Ubuntu is measurably better. Whenever I see people get memed from the gentoo thing, I just chuckle to myself.
Memetoo users literally spend more money per month to use Linux than Ubuntu users do.
>but source code
See OP's post. I guarantee you everyone logged into /g/ right now running gentoo has never read a single line of any package they've compiled on their system. I guarantee you that most gentoo users have never tried to write C, let alone try to learn it. Sorry, but compiling package on linux is like running IRC rainbow scripts. You think it makes your screen look cool
I'm not an expert programmer, but I've downloaded most of the source code to the apps I use daily, and have at least read over their build flags, etc.
