I bought and use solidexplorer through gapps play store. It connects to ftp servers, idk how you define mount. Maybe this thing is using gvfs in the background. Idk.

I may be misunderstanding something, the article assumes the Android device is the server while I need it to be the client.
Ghost commander on fdroid can
>>53574170
Oh sorry.
Any file manager can do that.
I use ES explorer

Remote shares on sony phones, mounts remote server as a folder in local storage

Thanks.
My ultimate goal is to stream audio from the server to replace services like Spotify/GPM. Would sftp be better or something else entirely?
>>53575422
You're better off just using an HTTP server in that case.
>>53575422
Your better off using subsonic or madsonic for that. Get dsub on android as the client
>>53575730
Just to be clear I am using a web hosting service, so an offshore server. I don't see how subsonic can be installed on it. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Everything I've read describes certain ways to stream from an embedded player on a web page rather than browse the filesystem.
