I'll assume you mean "avant garde" and not just "obscure".
I'd say Stali is "avant grade" in that it has something "new" which is statically linking wherever possible as a principle of the distribution.
Crux has a certain charm to it, as well.
It's much easier to name an avant-garde operating system I think.
