What's the best intro to Python?
If nothing comes up, I'm going with diveintopython.pdf
Background: I've watched the Standford lectures, intro to programming, years ago and got the files. I know Mathematica well, coded in MatLab before and am into Haskell (or rather I'm interested in dependent type systems).
Context: Now I'm going on a project where I talk with intstruments (visa) and write a GUI (Qt, probably).

Don't know about GUI though

Not OP, but what's wrong with his C book? I've been considering it for learning C as most tutorials I find recommend an IDE.

Tkinter is my go to with Python for GUIs.
I once asked this and got great advice from an anon:
If you can already program(c, c++), start with dive into python 3. Then to learn some interesting libraries, read automate the boring stuff with python.
