Are VR headsets for phones even good? Are they worth it?
Anyone have any experience with one?
my gear vr is collecting dust.
Worthless.
Best to wait for the AMD All in One portable headset. Or maybe oculus rift/htc vive. Or some other.

I just want to watch VR porn

same
just need some to stream/download
I like porn in it, I just have a nexus 5 and Google cardboard. It better then watch it on a monitor. Just find a torrent for some virtualrealporn@ com stuff and enjoy

They're great. Headtracking is overrated meme technology and a recipe for spewing Dr Pepper and stomach acid all over your keyboard.
The phone with a headmount delivers a great experience.
Google cardboard..... viewmaster... ehhh Waiting for HTC Vive to arrive.

VR in general will have the same fate as 3D.
it even has less use-cases, just games and porn.
GearVR is probably about 70% the quality of a PC headset, a good plastic case for cardboard is probably 10-15%.
Cardboard itself is probably less than 5%.
If you have a phone that can handle it, it's pretty nice. Here's my favourite headset.

Then it's basically perfect.
Just get yourself a good headset like the one in >>53564064

Holy fuck, how hadn't I heard about this?
I've seen a few cardboard fuzed android devices on aliexpress, but this is stepping up the game.
Given the processors onboard, I'm guessing by wireless/teather free, they don't mean a wifi connection to a pc, it is literally running everything on the headset.
My only concern then would be battery life, 35w gets you an hours play out of a rather large battery.
If I can charge and use it at the same time then I'll just drape a single cable from the roof, much better idea than doing the same with USB/HDMI.

They're like a giant 3D TV with no ghosting and much better depth and immersion.
Headtracking is nauseating and awkward as fuck combined with mouselook/aiming/traditional control systems, so I don't miss it.

$11 Headset that I use
Works pretty decent with the TrinusVR app
I can play pretty much anything with headtracking.

Really heavy making it uncomfortable after a minute. One I used basically weighed nothing too, all the weight was from the phone. Also you can see the blank lines in between pixels on the screen making the viewing kind of suck.
