Originally built in 2009; I've replaced a couple components that failed but it's mostly the same. The motherboard is currently shitting out tho so I'm replacing all of it.

>AMD Phenom II X4 940
>4 GB shit ram
>Originally ATI Radeon 4870 HD; but that shit out on me and now it has a shit GeForce GT 610
>500GB Seagate drive
>21.5" ASUS monitor

What's that image supposed to be?
The second ship is an entirely different ship.
>>
>>53560350
It's a stupid thing from philosophy called the Ship of Theseus. If you replace a board in a ship, is it still the same ship? What about two boards? At what point does it stop being the same ship?

The joke is he's using the 'same' computer from 2000, but has upgraded it so many times it's a totally different computer. Is it the same PC?

Oh, I actually like that concept then, makes sense

Alan Watts.. is that you?
>>
>>53560374
It's been upgraded, but it's still technically the same one. Just like you're the same person as the you from 15 years ago, despite being made from different atoms, body shape is different, and way of thinking is different.

Laptop? It runs so hot.

Fujitsu-Siemens from 2006 I think, everything original except the gpu had to be exchanged. Core2duo with 2.13 GHz, 1gb RAM, 500GB hard drive. My dad is still using it everyday for mails, word etc.
>>
>>53560425
It's a laptop. It ran like that since I bought it. It has two fans and manages to keep CPU/GPU temps bellow 80 degrees in full load.

What defines an object's identity?

Let's say you have an apple and slice it in two.
Replace the right half of the apple with a rock.
Then replace the left side with another rock.
2 rocks = apple ?

Deskop got parts from 2008 (Case, PSU) and parts from 2015 like 960gtx. Both monitors are from 2008 too.

That example doesn't work. Apples are not assembled that way. Try another example.

The case, power supply, and keyboard are all from 2000. All three are basically in like-new condition, even after 15 years of daily use.

All the rest is from 2008/9.

Samsung SyncMaster 955DF
About the only upgrades since 2001 are a few HDDs and a DVD burner in place of the CD-burner. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Can we count it if we've upgraded part after part so many times that it in no way resembles the original? If so I still have HDD from my original PC from like 2006 or 7...
