Any /g/tards using RCA video on anything? It makes the Raspberry Pi look nice on older TVs.
>>
I have used it to connect cameras to old TVs in family gatherings. It's not really useful for anything else.
>>
My wii still uses them
>>
>>53555172
>he doesn't have the component cables
>>
Audio is still done mainly through RCA.
>>
composite video has always been shit, literally only should be used on things like laserdisc/vhs players which are natively composite (and so won't benefit from a better interconnect)

>>53555172
you're missing out, 480i/p consoles look SO MUCH better over component/rgb or even just s-video

>He doesn't just use dolphin for glorious true 1080p with AA
>>

>Emulation
>>
>>53555424
I do that too, but a modded wii with a hard drive full of games is comfy as fuck.
>>
>>53555432
The wii is so gutless that dolphin can emulate it flawlessly.

It also helps that the devs aren't a bunch of useless fucks like the people who run PCSX2. Fucking how many years now and despite 5ghz 8-cores and graphics cards more powerful than 90s supercomputers and we still can't run a fucking game in its native res (GT4 @ 1080i)
>>
>>53555150

My PS2, the kids' Wii, DVD/DivX player, my VCR, all audio connects to the receiver, my dayghter's streaming device and her bluray player...

yeah... lotta shit still using 'em.
>>
>>53555495
the ps2 is a more complicated system to emulate
>>
>>53555502
>bluray player
>composite
uhh
>>
>>53555531

it's connected to an old sony CRT-type television.

She uses it mostly to play stuff she downloads from the USB port and DVDs. We don't have a single Bluray in the house.
>>
>>53555515
Oh bullshit, i don't care how complicated it is we right now have computers powerful enough to emulate a PSP, Wii, GC and DS all at the same fucking time while playing Crysis 3 or Metro Last Light in 4K.

PCSX2 is just programmed like absolute dog shit.

cocmposite is shit

true autists use RGB or component

I use it for some old consoles and am going to on my rPi Zero, but that's it

HDMI Masterrace.
Only poorfags use Component cables.
>>
>>53557736
The best feeling is learning that the component inputs on your TV accepts RGB.
I miss my old Sharp TV
>>
>tfw S-Video is the best you can do for a GameCube unless you want to shell out a few hundred for a cable

When are the chinese going to get on that shit and make us some cheaper component/VGA cables
>>
Used one last night to run my Apple IIc on my little portable Sony B&W Rain Man TV.
>>
>>53555424
>emulation
>2 frames of input lag on dolphin
>2 frame between any gc adapter and a pc
>2 frames between monitor and computer

honestly how would you even play smash like that
>>
>>53555722
its very diferent cpu to emulate.
Plz shut up
>>
>>53555424
4k these days anon. I can see the pixels on each texture
>>
>>53559934
Sounds like you would possible need some new hardware
>>
>>53555722
ps2 6.2 GFLOPS
wii 2.9 GFLOPS
my cpu 83.00 GFLOPS
So to emulate ps2 i need to run instruction no native to my cpu in 13 instruction not easy.
>>
>>53557847
DisplayPort Master race.
enjoy your 4k at 24 frames per second HDMIdiot
>>
>>53555495
Pcsx2 is amazing though, i can play armored core ape escape 2 and 3 in 4 FUCKING K without as much as a stutter
>>
>>53560180
I really hope you mean mflops.
the ps3 was 200 mflops in its cpu alone, and the ps4's cpu was 100 mflops.
>>
>>53555722
PS2 like the N64 has a retarded architecture.
It's why you can emulate a Dreamcast on a raspberry pi but can't even dream about emulating a PS2 on it.

Emulating is hard when the instruction set is strange
>>
Only my NES. Everything else is using S-video or better.
>>
Considering I've been using SCART RGB since the early 80s, going back to composite feels like a terrible regression. No really. It's shit. Complete shit. Significantly poor compared to other analog options available at the time. Why the fuck aren't you tools using RGB.
>>
the wii has a powerpc g3 based processor, ps2 has a weird mips processor and weird graphics chip
>>
>>53560597
>It's why you can emulate a Dreamcast on a raspberry pi
I wish. We're getting there but it's not exactly smooth as of now.
>>
>>53560760
Ah ye golden days of yore buying really pricey scart cables because of analogue signal degradation. Still after all these years analogue phono to 3.5mm jack are still useful. Everything else is now wireless
>>
>>53560205
What is HDMI 2.0 on a GTX 970?
>>
Just my older consoles.
Genesis, NES and N64.
>>
>>53562613
Any ordinary hdmi 1.4 does 4k 30 fps not 24.
>>
Planning on running an rpi 3 to an old tv that's in good shape using rca cables. Good old 320x240
>>
>>53555424
>>53560104
games should be rendered at the resolution they were designed for
>>
>>53563366
Complete horse shit. Suppose you like to play them at their original frame rates too.
>>
>>53563606
Rendering a game at a resolution drastically higher than it was designed to be rendered at just looks awful. Low polygon models and low resolution textures, don't look better at a higher resolution, just like high resolution textures don't look good rendered at too low a resolution.
>>
>>53560597
>PS2 like the N64 has a retarded architecture.
Nah
>>
>>53563332
don't even bother
the rpi can't output 240p, the composite port outputs 480i only and there's no way to change it
>>
>>53564397
Can the Zero do 320x240?
>>
>>53564461
no, all of them have the same video hardware
>>
>>53564565
Oh well, on the bright side I've played plenty of 640x480 games on my 320x240 CRT and they still look decent
>>
>>53564618
I'll just switch to a crt monitor with vga if rca doesn't work well. I'm wondering what the tv technically is anyways.
>>
I use my ps2 daily, does that count
>>
>>53565875
No component? It's a <$5 cable
>>
>>53563606
I thought frame rates are fixed on console games? i.e missed frames delay the clock-cycle (even when emulated)

My bandaid method has just been to switch on "intelligent frame creation" on my plasma when a game is stuck on 30fps, but there is probably better methods around since my television is five years old
>>
all my old vidya gaymen so i can get that interlaced twilight princess glory
>>
>>53567004
dolphin at least has an option to 'overclock' the emulated cpu, which can reduce lag frames, it can cause issues in some games though (as the game might not handle a "faster console" properly, you can run into race condition errors)

motion interpolation like your tv does is the only safe way to do it on any console, though it introduces a lot of output latency
>>
>>53555150
>RCA
>not BNC

>>

>>
>>53555722
Try emulating the MIPS-R5900 core with its FPU and custom instruction set, the 2 Vector Units, the GS GPU, the SPU and the IOP(an R3000A CPU)
Hard mode: at its original speed and keep everything in sync.
>>
>>53570097
>RGB
>not RGBHV
checkmate
>>
>>53570271
for old tv use you'd be using RGBS (composite sync), not RGBHV (as in vga)
though the picture is the same between the two, it's only sync-on-green RGB that has a visual downside
>>
>>53562654
I can understand the NES and N64 since the former can't output anything better and the latter looks like shit anyway, but why the fuck would you not use RGB on the Genesis when it's built in?
>>
>>53570879
>since the former can't output anything better
>not RGB modding your NES
>>
>>53570924
Exactly, the NES can't output anything but RF and composite unmodified. That's my point.
>>
>>53570940
And my point is you're a pleb if you have an NES and it can't do RGB
>>
>>53555722
Dunno which game you tried some of them simply don't work no matter what but as others suggested it does very much matter if you use vsync and software or hardware graphics emulation. It doesn't make sense at all but some games will just hate one or another. I played MGS3 which is apparently one of the more taxing games on a low end i5 almost 5 years ago and never had a single issue in hardware mode except for a few places that involved a lot of water and for those I changed it to software.
>>
>>53570968
It's a pain in the ass to solder since you have to remove the PPU and buying one preinstalled doesn't make you any less pleb.
