I'm three years in to Computer Engineering in my third term of the year. Its still boring as fuck.
>>
>>53552015
You should have went with electric circuits for computers OP, it has programing C, C# C++ java and other assorted languages.
It has microcontrolers, networking, etc...
It's fun as hell and then you can Major in Networking which basicly makes you an effective specialist at reconditioning all types of hardware.
So yeah Sysadmin + hardware .

This is why I went for IT.

Alright, anyone know how much of this is truth, and how much is autistic contempt? I know it's LA for the computer literate, and it's all piss easy. That's why I dropped CS half way through for an internship. I just want to know if it's worth finishing, or if I should chose a different route.

cs is a subject you have to make interesting yourself. Think about how you could apply your classwork to your own personal projects, thats what makes someone good at CS. If you don't have any personal experience, you wont get paid anywhere near as much as someone who does, because they have a better skillset than you do.

For example, lets say you just finished a basic database administration class. See how you could apply that to your own personal projects - maybe make a database for all of the music/movies you have and administrate the DB just like you did in class, or other things like that. Practice setting up and operating databases, etc. Do this for all of the classes that you take, it makes them way more fun. I've been working on CS since middle school and I haven't gotten bored yet, you just have to have a passion for what you do.

will start computer engineeringin april.
Worked for about 4 years with networking shit and made CCNP and stuff. is it really that boring?

>you just have to have a passion for what you do
THIS. This is the biggest part of CS - anyone who says they find CS boring or not fun obviously doesn't have a passion for it, and should look into other fields or degrees. You'll only make good money in CS if you have a passion for what you do and are good at it, but the two generally go hand-in-hand.

Well CS at most Universities is kept rather theoretically and I'd say it depends what you are aiming for after u finished. In most cases studying CS if you want to be a software developer is not really required. For my part I am going to Study CS and go further in scientific research with Neurological Computer Science.
it really jst depends on what you are planning to do

What if you're a broken person that has no passions?

Welcome to the club anon.

Sometimes I wonder whether I'm depressed because I don't enjoy life, or I don't enjoy life because I'm depressed.

At least I still have a passion for shitposting.

One thing I've learned is that you won't find new passions or ideas sitting in front of ur PC 24/7 and trust me , I've been there.. :D
>>
>>53557673
Can you make a career shitposting?

The biggest thing I've found is changing up my landscape. I used to go on the computer 6+ hours a day and didn't find anything fun to do, and was constantly bored. One day I stood up and said "fuck this" and went for a walk outside. I found that while on that walk, it gave my brain a change of environment that helped a lot. The biggest thing is to have a trade off - its what gives people the hunger to achieve and do great things. If you're sitting at the computer all day, you have nothing to compare it against so you get bored. But if you're working for four hours and then come home, chances are you'll be excited to go on the computer and already have plans for what you want to do because you had nothing better to think about at work, things like that. You want a lot of variety in life, as it helps you think of new ideas and things to do, and boosts your creativity a lot. Try taking a walk today, even if its just around your block for five minutes. Just do /something/ to change your environment. I had to stop using my desktop for a month to fully break the cycle and make myself realize what was happening.
