Kids please, this site is 18+, learn to take your computer appart and properly clean it, replacing thermal paste too.

>>53540050
do you replace thermal paste on stuff like GPU and other heatsink'd items on the mobo?

GPU and CPU.

Vacuum cleaner on cars yeah, they are good, but you can only properly clean a laptop with a brush and some liquid for plastic and electronics.
>>
>>53540245
That wasn't a vacuum cleaner. It was an air compressor.

Are you a mental midget? I have an air compressor in my garage for other reason than to clean my pc. I know your faggot McDonald job prevent you from owning a home, but stop being so salty.

You just need to add a water trap to the line, it's like $5
>>
>>53540321
Every form of contact and cleaning can, mineral oil bath, brushing, hell, placing in a new component.

Everything can, if its not done right.

But generally compressed air is the fastest and safest way.

>>
>>53540098
what about other items on the motherboard that have heatsinks?
>>
>>53540453
They have thermal pads, you can change them if you want, but those don't produce that much heat unless you overclock.
>>
>>53540382
>>53540321
>>53540364
Just make sure to unplug the fans 'cause they'll spin like crazy and that might put some charge into the motherboard

Wow! What an astute observation!
>>
If I have a new, working motherboard and I wash it with water while it's powered off with 0 electricity in it and let it dry completely, why would it break? Because dust and corrosion? Would it break?

What if I put water on it and then wiped it off and cleaned it with alcohol, waited a bit for the alcohol to clear and then tried? Would it work?

Why not if it wouldnt?
>>
>>53541098
It will work if you use distilled water. Ions are bad, see?
>>
>>53541142
What should I search up to learn more about this? I'm good with programman but don't start CE until August and don't know more than A+ coursework.

Why is ionized water bad for circuit boards? Idekbruhfam
>>
>>53541211
Ions conduct electricity. Did you drop out of grade school?
>>

>Why is ionized water bad for circuit boards?

I'm guessing you have no idea how/why electricity works and also never took a real physics or chemistry course
>>
>>53541250
But the motherboard has no electricity and I cleaned it off with alcohol thoroughly. This is part of my question

>>53541276
Never took chemistry unfortunately. Had a bad draw of the card during high school and had to take mostly remedial courses. Physics was shoehorned on me in freshmen year so most of it wasn't retained.

Still got accepted to college top 30 in the nation for CE. Just gotta relearn some stuff and learn some new stuff. Not too bad.

My case came with magnetic filters for the intake which keeps most of the dust out. Not sure what the big deal is.

tap water has more than water and when it dries up, it'll have a residue that'll conduct electricty (depending on your tap water quality)
>>
Any cheap air compressor that's electic powered?
>>
>>53541358
What do you think will happen when the water dries up? That's right, the salts will not evaporate, and they will short your mobo unless you clean it with a non conductive solution.
Which reminds me, it might also make your components oxidise.
>>
>>53539919
