reallistically whats the worse that could happen if I have my pc like this?
>>53538432
Dust or electric shock... Really about all in my opinion. Cooling may or may not suffer which will really depends on gear used.
Do you have a cat?
You could get aids, but that would just be from being a faggot.
You can get a sweet case for $50
>>53538461
I think the main problem is dust. Also try not to drop anything on it.
Spilling your drink on a PC like this would be pretty bad.
Spill something on it. I had my setup like that for two years before I spilled beer on the mobo and then it was fucked. But it was an old rig so it didn't really matter
>>53538432
Now you're not allowed to sneeze.
its actually far from me to spill something, my only fear is that its not even attached to the metallic panel so the motherboard is just touching on the plastic on bot
...is that cardboard underneath?

maybe overheating due to poor airflow
>>53538432
what video card is that?
It will just run warmer due to bad airflow and it will get dusty really fast. That's all.
Dust, albeit it should be easier to clean
Bumping and damaging any part or component
Generally speaking, don't underestimate what CAN get damaged.

Unless you testbench a lot of hardware there's no reason TO have your PC like that. Just use a proper case like everyone else.

It's a metal testbench sitting on what looks like a large mousepad and some cardboard, probably so it doesn't scratch up the desk

random kid visiting sneezing in the middle of the motherboard while checking it out and out of desperation trying to wipe it off with his hands making things even worse.
You bust your load, it gets on the motherboard and inside the fans. You cry.
>>53538432
Worst case scenario would be spilling shit on it. Just grab some cardboard and wrap it around with some air holes if you're afraid of getting beer or coffee in your baby.

It's 12V DC m8.

spill liquid on it or touch it when you've built up static and you could up and fry some of your components

>dropping something metal
THIS OP, a thousand times this. A pen, a paperclip, a staple, anything tiny and metal. On a long enough time line, it will eventually happen.
>>53538471
Literally my first thought.
Realistically, nothing. I've had miners set up like this for over a year. You have to air blast them every few weeks to keep the dust from accumulating. If it's on a desk like that the dust settling shouldn't get too bad.
The other disadvantage is noise. You'd be surprised at how much more noise it will generate without a metal case to dampen the sound.
Don't listen to these faggots about electric shock. The fucking thing is grounded and the contact points are shielded enough. Of course you're going to see sparks fly if you spill your drink on it, but that's your goddamn fault.
>>53550364
The difference is, you're not at your desk working with your miners all day.
>>53538432
Dust will stuck in all places and it's very likely you'll pretty soon hear a sudden strong noise, smell like something burned and see your computer restart - this will keep happening until something dies or burns while you sleep.
>>53538432
spill a drink on it
>>53538461
nope. idiot..
dust doesn't matter to, I've been working in a rock quarry for 3 months now my computer has like 2 feet of dirt on top of the motherboard, no issues
>>53538475

Nothing really. Even my cat doesn't care.
Dust is not a problem either. I've been having mine like this for a couple of years. You have to be careful not to spill anything on it though.

1. Dropping something on it
2. Spilling something on it
3. Dust
