Has anybody here tried mixing OEM and Cherry profile keycaps? I'm thinking of getting some blank Cherry profile, and use my current OEM profile for the modifiers - but I don't know if the height difference would fuck it up for me.

I know that feel, bro.

Anyway, from aliexpress I usually buy from 3 sellers:
http://aliexpress.com/store/914660
http://aliexpress.com/store/818123
http://aliexpress.com/store/429151

Not many keysets avalible tho, at least not high quality ones. If you can find any good ones on taobao though, im pretty sure the last 2 sellers will act as taobao proxies.
>>
>>53538616
I'd go for it, but it depends on what you use it for

I personally would love to have my letters higher than the rest of the keyboard so that I can type without having to fumble around. Also, it might look really nice. If you only leave modifiers up/down, that might fuck it up.

My idea:

>get rid of legends on all the letters
>numbers above it, too
>have the rest labelled

If you get the keys lower, might give it that nice, lived-in look that makes it seem as if you did so much typing the keys actually went lower.
>>
>>53538379
Is it possible to remove the legends on Cherry keys alltogether? I bought a keyboard that has some weird shit symbols on it and I'm too tight to buy a full keycap set.

Well, I'm not sure what "fully customizable" means to you or to the guy who sold it to you, but you'll have some serious trouble finding aftermarket keycaps due to your bottom row being non-standard (see the tiny windows key and the slightly oversized mods and spacebar).

Other than that you can customize it as much as just about any other mech, if you're comfortable with soldering.
>>
>>53541855
it'd certainly be possible, but you'd probably also end up scratching the rest of the cap.

I think you're not understanding what I'm trying to tell you.

Your keyboard has a non-standard bottom row.
Most sets of aftermarket keycap sets do not accommodate for this kind of bottom row.
Aftermarket keycaps will fit most of your keyboard, but not the bottom row.
This will look ugly as shit.

Went ahead and gave it a go. Only sanded off the legend (key is the 0 key on numpad). There's a noticeable difference in texture now, but that might be because I used 180 grain sandpaper. Might get some finer grain and go over the entire top to even it out.
Got the legend off perfectly though, and it was really easy.

Should be perfectly compatible, zealios and gaterons are basically cherry clones. Just be warned that gaterons use a softer plastic on their casings which results in the little legs that hold the casing together not to snap back as well if bent too much when opening. Though this is a minor issue and easily fixed.

I smoothed it out some more. It takes fucking ages, but it's getting there. Taking the last bit with an eraser and baking paper, since I don't have any sandpaper this fine.
Unless looking at it from the side (like the photo), it's impossible to see that anything was done to it.
I shoulda gone deeper with the rough sandpaper though, since the 0 is slightly visible still now that I got it smoothened out.

Is it worth it? Probably not. But it's possible.

Cherry Reds are objectively the best switch due to the following reasons:

1) They require the least amount of operating force relative to all the other cherry switches. Thus, less fatigue for your fingers.

2) There is no tactile actuation point. Thus, your mind does not need to overcome an unneeded physical bump when typing, allowing for faster typing.

3) They are the quietest of the cherry switches when typed on properly (hands hovering over keyboard and fingers pressing keys down lightly).

4) It feels like youre typing on a cloud of boobs.

I'm so pissed that I fell for the cherry blue switch meme, I've been using blues for years and now that I switched to reds my wpm is faster than its ever been.

>>
>>53546578
Clears are fucking amazing. Reds are absolute trash tier though, so it's not really a fair comparison.
>>
>>53546627

Can you explain why? I have also been seeing this lately that clears are better but I don't know why. Is it just because they have a lower operating force? Or anything else? I also heard cherry reds incur a lot of uneeded friction on the downstroke.
>>
>>53546650
Clears are weightier, they require more actuation force so you won't accidentally click keys. They are tactile like browns but don't feel like dipping your fingertips into hog shit. Reds are a meme switch that 'gaymers' use in an attempt to improve their performance in games when in reality it makes no difference. You will only type as fast as you are able and game as well as you are capable.

Can confirm that reds are max comfy
The thing I hated the most about rubberdomes is that they were either up or down with some tactility. Reds let me have everything in-between, with the clack.

To be fair you'll find yourself hitting 3 buttons at once on occasion and actuating a key on accident, but not once you get good at typing.

matias quiet click are imo the best mechanical switches, period. that said, I've heard good things about matias clicky switches, and I've played with a few loose Fuhua, which are okay if you're into clicky.

maybe my experience is limited in that sense since I havent slept with any flat chested girls or felt any small titties. I like my girls like my keyboards large, expensive, and overrated

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has any experience unbinding the default ducky shine mini 2 key? Currently I am using the Caps Lock key as my main fn key and would like to rebind the default fn key using AutoHotkey, but the default fn key doesn't register in AHK because it is a modifier. Anyway to unbind the default fn key and make my caps lock key the only fn key?

Gonna have 2 layers (topright key to switch)
Layer 1 will have pic related layout. The undecided will be used for random autoclickers and macros as I see fit (stuff like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ , ™ etc. that I already use AHK for)
Layer 2 will probably be a numpad, but in a nonretarded layout (eg 123/456/789/0 instead of the default numpad 789/456/123/0)

Keycaps are gonna be a mess of leftover caps until some day when I buy some custom ones.

Laying in bed is comfy, but it's certainly not the kind of thing you want to be doing all day if your back is of concern to you.

You should look into getting a chair with some good lumbar support. Or just even one of those lumbar support pillows.

Yeah, I'll be visiting Tokyo and then going from south from there to Kyoto and Hiroshima, then all the way up to Sapporo and then back down to Tokyo. I'll be travelling for almost a month and Yokohama is on one of my "places to visit in Tokyo" list, so yes, I'll most likely go there too.
