the problem with 4chan is it's reputation precedes it, EVERYONE knows that 4chan is messed up, that 4chan is the "seedy underbelly of the internet"
nobody wants to sponsor or advertise on a site like that. during 4chan's dark times, when moot was really struggling to pay for servers, he even allowed porn sites to advertise here (that was like, idk, 2008?)
on sites like reddit, this money is raised beforehand like an actual corporation to drive development and growth, some time recently they had a 50 million dollar funding cycle with huge media company support
the only big supporter or sponsor of 4chan is J-store, and that fits with 4chan's target audience of weebs, but they do not amount to a lot
i block ads on 4chan desu, so i dont know, but have you ever seen a company you've seen before advertise on 4chan? would you ever see microsoft or something advertise on 4chan? no.
4chan also has terrible monetization strategies - they currently do 2 things, sell ad space (and you can see exactly how worthless adspace is on this site, only the users and J store want to use it pretty much ) and sell 4chan passes, which are not that popular and arent that great of an idea desu
4chan is not worth a whole lot. That being said, it's value doesnt matter, and this is why I think it's better than reddit, its run like an internet forum and not like a company, its run for the users and not for a profit

Especially that last one is popular with the biggest services like Google and Facebook, but 4chan doesn't have any user data at all. It doesn't have a paid service either (shortly after the introduction of the 4chan pass, the captcha got changed to where you only have to press a button so nobody is buying it), and like someone said the only ads that get noticed here are J-List or le funny meme stuff.
I can see 4chan getting sold for a lot of money because of its large userbase but only if the person plans to make changes on 4chan like making more intrusive ads or making like a Facebook plug-in so they can collect data.
