The only reason people think /g/ cares only about linux is entirely because the desktop threads are the only time you consistently see the same people over and over again, and they always run some hyped up awesome/i3 shit on arch or ubuntu.
You used to see people trying to heavily rice windows 7 (and then 8, because people found out that you could basically discount your way into getting it legally free, gj microsoft), but it doesn't happen anymore because windows 10 is dogshit for ricing, so now it's a tiny lonely circlejerk of people spending hours on configs for the five or six programs they ever use

It was the first OS that worldwide spread for normal fags. Linux was mostly used by techy people from the 90's and seem that 4chan is in mostly 20's we didn't know any better. We grew up on Windows, at least outside the US

Using linux is a meme, most people here just have a VM that they resume for desktop threads.
