I disagree. Mine is just for use in my bed. There's no better solution. I don't need a computer when I'm away from home because the only computer I need is supplied by my employer.

Besides that, my phone tides me over until I get home.

>>
>>53512058
I do, however it isn't without its drawbacks. My only complaints with the OS are its (in my opinion) overly aggressive polkit settings which basically amount to, on the user side, needing to input admin password to do mundane things like change wifi networks and difficulties installing media codecs. Both of these are remedied by installing "GeckoLinux" instead which is for all intents and purposes Leap 42.1 with polkit set to reasonable values, and preinstalled media codecs. Saves a lot of time.

I guess I should also talk about what makes it better than Mint/Ubuntu as well. YaST is by far the best GUI system control panel for any linux system which I know of. It also uses Zypper which is the best rpm package manager, and is loads better than apt-get (It's just apt now, isn't it?). Zypper allows for package locking which means until you remove the lock, it will not update even if you do a system-wide upgrade as well as many other features.

Can't recommend it enough, if you have the time to try it, I strongly recommend you do. If you use the tumbleweed release (their rolling release edition) be sure to use btrfs as it makes rolling back anything that's broken after an update super easy!
>>

i3-3120M and a GT 635m
Upgraded recently to an i7-2630QM.
But that extra 10W is too much for my 90W charger/battery it seems, and the charger shuts down when drawing too much power. (dGPU + CPU at 85% or so)
It's strange, if I use a 120W charger with the battery plugged in, it still stops receiving power from the charger at a high load.
When I remove the battery it works fine.

Everytime I look at something to replace it (money is no object), I find something I don't like. Was all excited about Dell XPS 13 then saw the barbaric charging pin waiting to break, Razer Blaze stealh, oooh I'm gonna get one! see the 4 hour battery! Thinkpad T450s looks good.. OMG that shit screen. Every time somebody makes something that looks good, they drop the ball in a big way and I stick with my Macbook.

Intel Core 2 Duo P8600

Using a new 9-cell battery from Lenovo so the battery life is tolerable. Also, librebooted and running Trisquel. All in all, a comfy machine. Hope it lasts me a long time.

Be nice if the dock had power in and ethernet, but it's interesting to use it over a normal laptop as there is some nice versatility in touch/kb&m combination. Beats the core2 laptop I had untill last year. Shit battery though.

Dell's are nice, but not very reliable.

For me:
Lenovo Y50-70

Crucial BX100 500Gb
3840x2160 IPS Screen 48Hz (60Hz is possible at 2560x1600 if Intel fixes their drivers)
Intel HD Graphics 4600 w/ Nvidia Geforce 860M (Maxwell version, so it's a 960M/750Ti)

Best I could do given my constraints. Wanted a portable machine, preferably a ThinkPad or another business-class laptop, that had room for upgrades and was libreboot compatible. It isn't the best machine I've owned specwise, but frankly it's probably the comfiest.

~£230 (350 burgers I think) from china.
+£25 for keyboard/dock/case, which is okay, but the track pad is bad.
It is nice, but be warned, really shit battery life at around 4hours and honestly it needs opening up and having at least a copper shim put under the heatsink instead of the horrible oem gel pad. Not for daily use, I'm just using it as a pseudo portable passive desktop.

Why not just native or 1920 - 1200? Nothing blurry about that.

nothing, i never said there was something bad about it
and 1920x1200 even on my old 15" is too tiny.
but if you go off of 4:1 scaling things start to look blurry so I just stick with the native effective res

What the hell, anon. I use it on my 12" screen and while it looks tiny compared to 1440x900, it's easy to get used to. On an even bigger screen it shouldn't even need time to get used to.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834231522

Purchased in late 2013 for $685. Ended up costing a bit more cause the fucker only came with 6GB of mismatched RAM and I had to buy a new 8GB kit. I could have contacted Newegg but being a refurb I'm sure they would have only offered a full refund if I sent it back.

>>
>>53526443

wait so they upgraded the SSD in the 2015 version? Neat. What's the new r/w speed? I get 620 MB/s write and 710 MB/s read on my 2014 according to BlackMagic.
>>
>>53527246
650ish/1200 write/read, so while damn nice, I doubt you'll really notice a difference.

>>53527346

oh wow that's pretty neat. why the discrepancy between the read/write improvement? does it have something to do with NVMe vs PCIe?
>>
>>53528306
Not the slightest idea. I don't remember the readings on Windows, so it might be a software thing or Apple is just cheaping out on a high level.
