It's the Thinkpad that's currently at the price/performance sweet spot, so everyone is buying one.
It's actually not that good compared to earlier models. Wait a year or two and you'll be making this thread about the T430 and everyone will be trying to reconcile themselves to the shitty keyboard like they do for the move to 16:9 on the T420.

I have a T430 and i thnk the keyboard is fine, sure it's not optimal layout but that's kind of a meme, it's the best laptop keyboard i've typed on, it sues the same mechanisms as the T420
