Why /g/ hate bass?
a solid pair of bookshelf speakers will hit around 35Hz, which is plenty of bass.
not hatin' on subs, i just dislike how music sounds with subs. it sounds off to me.

Pretty sure nobody said that. You get a subwoofer to fill in the low end. Nigger bass is when you get three 15" subwoofers, put them in your trunk, and you get nothing but bass rattling your car and your entire body.

To hit 35 Hz with proper levels and definition you'd need some very decent 8" drives at least, with proper placement, stands, etc.
If you really care about sub 50 Hz content, you should invest in a proper sub unless you can afford the above.

I used to have a home audio 12" Infinity sub that was rated down to 30Hz. It was decent.
I replaced it with two 18" subs rated down to 35Hz and my music sounds much more natural. Sounds like the kick drum is right there in my room.

No it's not. Most people can hear down to 20hz.
On a variety of tests I have been able to hear consistently across all of them down to 17hz.
The difference between 20 and 35hz is ridiculously large especially if you're not listening to jpop you weeb.

Buy two satellites and a decent quality bass. You don't keep your volume on max so I don't see why you should keep your bass on max either. You're supposed to feel bass more than you hear it n-e-ways

Soundsticks were 180$ when I got them. Harman Kardon is a great brand. Put your dildo memes aside, all the ranges are clear and focused. Amazing highs and the bass is fantastic for its size and the cost was pretty low for how good of sound it produces. I bought mine 4 years ago and they still sound fantastic.
