iRiver H320 here.

Using it to record live stuff (excellent recording features, stereo LINE-IN). Even the sound quality is still fucking awesome.
Mine runs on Rockbox firmware like in this Wikipedia pic.

Made in 2004 and still running like a champ.
Might change the battery and mod the 20GB HDD to a compact flash card.
I fucking love this thing.

How? I'm not familiar with GSM
How do you pay for the service?
>>
>>53456303

You buy a SIM card, and put it into any phone, your operator doesn't have to 'activate' anything.
You can either have a contract (seriously don't do this) or pre-pay your account via your operators website or via a payment card in stores.
>>
>>53456303
any activated SIM could be put in it as long as the carrier has the same GSM bands the phone has
you pay for it like normal

Nice.

I had two CDMA StarTACs back when they weren't outdated yet, but ended up ditching them due to switching to TDMA and eventually GSM. I'd love to have another StarTAC, but there are only a couple rare models that work with USA GSM frequencies (actually only supports just one of the two frequencies used, even), and they seem really hard to get a hold of.

Hell I'd even consider using a MicroTAC if I could get one of those with the right band. I love those things.

Exactly this. 1-2 weeks battery life. It's impossible to destroy these phones. With no IP protection these things survive a 1400 rpm trip in the laundry machine. A Xperia Z2 doesnt...

I've considered it, but 68k boxes with an FPU/MMU can also run A/UX, which is 100% real System V and way neater.

I always wondered how it would even run, I can't imagine any current versions of even lightweight free software are that suited to be run on a 25 MHz 68030/040 with 8-20 MB of RAM.

>Antz has successful reduced the cpu clock. He only removed the fan of the Overdrive cpu. The fan is power-supported by the cpu, so the cpu can check this and if the fan is missing ,a pentium overdrive will set the multi to one. So the cpu runs of 1x25 MHz instead with 2,5x25 MHz.
That's some shit.

As far as getting it on an unsupported system, most of the time you can just run the installer on another system and then transfer the drive, or simply gimp the system and underclock/remove the RAM after you've completed the install. XP doesn't run the check on boot, just when you're installing it.

Came here to post this; muh nigga. Got mine in '06, fucker still works flawlessly to this day. The things are solid as I accidentally slammed it hard in a friend's car door a few years ago and bent it out of shape half way down and fucked up the LCD (white bars across the whole thing but still perfectly legible), but it kept on truckin' just fine. Swapped to a Sansa Clip as my daily driver recently but only because my Zen's 30GB wasn't sufficient for my music library and it was a bit cumbersome to jog with. Only gripe is that it was never successfully rockboxed.

So there's a remote datalogger we still dial into get the status and history of the level of a river. The microcontrolelr is pretty flexible so I dropped the UART down to 110 baud and this baby dials into it weekly to get me a report of the water level over the past seven days. Records of the connection can be stored to paper tape if necessary.

My model M was made in 1983. I had to build a DIM5 PS/2 connector to connect it to a PS/2 USB connector because the regular PS/2 port wasn't that powerful. Sometimes it doesn't start on boot and i have to disconnect her and reconnect, and others times it stops working. But it's fine. Also i can't ibrenate the PC 'cause the keyboard doesn't support it. But the feel i have writing on it is very good. I find my keyboard in my grandfather's garage and i discovered that was still working. I also find others model M and model F.

It can be quite difficult to identify televisions. Back in they day there were a lot of companies that made them in a lot of different styles.

If I recall correctly, rectangular CRT color TV consoles with knob tuners were made from around 1967 through the entire 1970s, and I can't really narrow it down just by looking at it, but I'm quite a curious person and will see if I can happen to find a picture of the same model somewhere.

If it was a Zenith it may have been a Chromacolor II, which were among the best American TVs ever made before the sharp quality decline and outsourcing.
>>
>>53456051
I've got one. They had zero chance because most came installed with Vista which probably for many normies and ENTERPRISE was a deal breaker. Also the advent of smartphones was just around the corner and there were some pretty good PDAs out at the time too (in addition to, you know, laptops). Last but not least the keyboard sucks total cock. I bet if I was otherwise set on getting this thing for release price at a store trying the keyboard would have made me drop it.

Still don't regret getting mine second hand for 130 yuros, it's just too cool.

Awesome.

1973 was getting to the tail end of truly American-made TVs, the early days of rectangular color CRTs and fully transistorized chassis. The fact that it served until at least 2006 is testament to the days when transistorization and simplification was actually intended to increase longevity rather than just reduce costs. If it never saw any repairs whatsoever it would be up there with the most reliable TVs in history with over three decades of use.

I still use my PSP every day as a media player.
Lasts like all day using hold.prx (slows the CPU down heavily when the screen is off and fixes the PSP2000's hilariously faulty hold switch by making you push it all the way up when leaving hold, which also stops you from putting it to sleep right out of hold on accident).

it's probably the oldest tech I use regularly

video playback isn't the nicest (and , and I should probably use my phone for that, but I don't feel like having my phone battery go down so much

oh, and games, but I've been playing less and less on it, I'll probably just pop in Crazy Taxi when I need to blow through like 10-15 minutes

it did everything you could ever want in a media player and that was back in 2007 or 08.
>if you didnt want to carry that giant docking station, there was a smaller docking station. the portable station was about .5in X .5in X 4in. A/V output jack, usb input (recharging/pc connection), usb output(standard usb connection). full usb port was great at transferring files between the device and usb sticks. i miss that sob. screen died. 100$ to replace. i ended up taking the hard drive out.

>>53476915
I don't know about its first 20 years but I know it didn't have any repairs for it's last 15 years of service. After it was placed upstairs, the hassle of moving it plus the cost of repairing it would have been retarded compared to just buying a new TV. Even when we did buy a new TV, it wasn't because it was broken, only that CRTs were pretty cheap and my parents thought it was time for an upgrade.

Only problem I ever had was when the picture would randomly shrink to an inch or less tall. We would bang on the side to fix it but much later I learned there were dials hidden on the back that when twisted would fix the height problem permanently.

I wish we had kept it just for old time's sake

It's a shame because Apple hardware used to last forever. My Power Macintosh 7500 is still running without a hitch more than 20 years later. The only issue it ever had was not even its fault; some moron moving it into my university dorm room smacked the case against a railing and cracked it. Got a donor shell from a beige G3 and all was well again.

Even my 2007 iMac runs pretty well, but it's way less serviceable. When the hard drive died I had to buy industrial suction cups to remove the screen and get at the internals. But even this is more serviceable than the modern equivalent. And it's lasted considerably longer than my friends' Macbooks.

My Dad used to have this one, I remember playing with the tuner nob when I was a kid. It felt so smooth. I kind of want one now because it felt so damn good.

I must have been 3 or 4. That was 22 years ago lol.
