What's /g/'s opinion on Discord?
It's alright.
>>53440852
He was a great villain and even though I didn't like his redemption I still enjoy his episodes.
>>53440860
I'm confused by it's use over mumble.
>>53440878
pls
>>/mlp/
It's closed-source
closed source garbage; there is no reason not to use Mumble.
>>53440975
Not entirely true. Mumble is shit, but the best open-source shit available. Coming from someone who hosts a Murmur server
>>53440852
I still see no real reason to use it especially with no Linux client
>>53441021
In what ways is Mumble shit?
>>53441021
>mumble is shit
how is it shit?
>>53440901
it's easier to just send your friends a link and have some bullshit in browser as opposed to teamspeak/mumble/ventrilo/etc
>>53440901
>I'm confused by it's use over mumble.
I'm guessing that since hosting a server is "free" through Discord people would flock to it.
>>53441038
>>53441032
It's sad that I'd rather use teamspeak, the close source alternative.
>>53441032
>>53441038
mostly this https://github.com/mumble-voip/mumble/issues/957
>>53440852
I wanted to hate discord for not being open source, but it's better than skype and has a very irc feel to it.
>>53440852
its shit
>not on linux
>spies on you as stated in agreement
>can't change where it installs
>closed source
>required to check for updates at startup
>shit notification system
pick anything else
It's fine. Would use mumble but my dorm internet can't port forward so I can't host a server and fuck public servers.
Why anyone would use a nonstandardised communication protocol is beyond me.
Its a good skype alternative.
>>53440959
Fyi stallman doesn't care if web services are free software since that code is run on the owners computer, not yours.
>>53441656
its isn't though, its just as shit as skype is for mostly the same reasons
don't be that one fag that makes people use it instead of skype, at least pick something good if you're going to do that
>>53440852
He's an evil enchantress and he does evil dances
Absolute garbage botnet bullshit.
Seriously fuck people who enable stuff like this to continue being developed.
>>53440852
Botnet
stop shilling it
Nongarbage internet
Raspberry pi or alternative
Bam mumble server you control for $40
There's also hosting for mumble severs. My friend got some russian one that was like $6 a year
>>53441741
Stallman cares about privacy though
>>53440852
>muh gaymur comunication
Its clean and nice to use, idk if i really prefer it over any of the other voice chat programs, but its aight. Its good for scheduling and such too. Not that there aren't alternatives, but its not horrible
