so im looking to upgrade my graphics card thing is i dont know that much about them. atm i have an alienware aurora r2 with a radeon HD 5670. im looking at the GeForce GTX 750Ti SC 2GB GDDR5, i compared the two and the gtx is a hell of alot better for a pretty cheap price (110$ on amazon). would this card fit my pc?
looking for all and any advice or suggestions.

I would recommend buying a used 280x but that`s just me not being a tool and buying new like you retards always do
>>53416736
if i have the money why not buy new? dont want to buy a used one and have it burn out a month after getting it.
>>53416752
In this specific example a 280x is two entire performance tiers above a 750ti.
I don't know, prebuilts can be finicky, take a picture of the internals and share with us
you may also want to consult my list of "gpus worth buying" list
>gtx 750ti for $100
>gtx 950 for $150
>r9 380 for $200
>r9 390 for $300
>wow look nothing!
>gtx 980ti for $600
>>53417230
How about 380x for $250?
Also... nigga, with all this DX12 benchmark, you could easily put a Fury, or hell even the Nano in the list instead of the 980ti

Refuse to believe a 7990 outperforms a 960 WITH 1 more GB of memory
>>53416667
What processor do you have? Also what resolution and refresh rate are you targeting?
A 280x or higher will likely be bottlenecked by your CPU if you don't OC.
>>53417336
A 7990 is two gpus on one board, so its effectively 7970x2.
>>53417386
Right, forgot that aspect

heres the internals.
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20GHz
Video Card AMD Radeon HD 5670
Memory 3.0 GB

Nigga you serious?
The 7990 is a Dual-GPU (2x7970)
The 7970 is already in match with a 780/780 ti (WHich is roughly the same performance as the 970)

im wanting to get the highest refresh rate as i can in 1080p

These 2 GTX 950s are 75W, no PCIe power connector required, not sure of the longer card can fit your PC though, the Mini-ITX card will

That's a dual-core bruh.
That PC is not long for this world, you're going to need new CPU/RAM/MOBO very shortly if you're trying to play newer games.
I'd say just buy a 750ti or a GTX 950 on sale and then build a new computer altogether in about a year or two.
Don't really want to create a new thread just for this, and since you already kind of have a GPU thread, here goes:
How long will this last me?

Should I get something current get or wait and get the new pascal/vulcan/cocaine?
>>53416667
OP hard to give you good advice, we need to know what your budget is and how powerful your PSU is. Although as I recall the Auroras have decent 500w Dell OEM units. You should have no trouble running any single GPU.
The 750TI is the best in the ~$100 tier, past that look at the R9 380
Buy a mid range gpu like the r9 380 now or a low gtx 750 ti and then upgrade when the new ones are released?
>>53416667
If you're open to used cards, you can grab a HD7950/7970 for about the same price for a lot more performance. 750Ti is alright, yes it would fit. It doesn't require a 6pin either. At that price point you don't really get a lot though.

The HD5870 is a legendary card, desu. Great overclocker. You should wait until Polaris/Pascal comes out, honestly, most cards right now guzzle power, nVidia and AMD, and won't stack up in the 4K department, unless you're willing to throw 600 bucks out there for a Fury/Nano/Fury X or 980Ti/Titan X. I fully expect that mainstream cards will be able to handle intense 4K within the next couple years. Plus, the current series can only get cheaper as the deadline approaches.
>>53418017
i settled on the 750 ti. it should be more then enough for what i need
>>53418131
Thanks. I'll wait for the Polaris/Vulcan to come out. How much dosh do you reckon it will cost to get a decent mid-range GPU in the next gen?
>>53418069
This is the best advice
IMO I'd buy a 750ti or a 950/950ti/950se low profile when they come out so you can use that card to build an HTPC later.
>>53416667
for $10 more (after rebate) you could get a gtx 950.
