A modern OS that has bugs in the installer.

This is UNACCEPTABLE in the Year 2016.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD TO PERFECT THIS SHIT WINDOWS 95 DID FLAWLESSLY 20 YEARS AGO?
>>
Something happened.

Did you partition your boot properly and or tell the installer which is your boot partition?

Yeah OP. Current year. How could? Ever been? Can even?

You obviously weren't alive 20 years ago for that shitfest.
I question whether you're even alive now.

This is why Linux will never win. Some of us have better things to do with our time anon. Shit, even now that's a tough call as well because windows 10.

>>

It's certainly not for the faint of heart, just look at OP. The target audience of Debian is the type that could manually install grub as needed, or could reasonably be expected to find out how from the copious documentation available.

Maybe a Chromebook is more OPs speed.
>>
>>53358219
>It's certainly not for the faint of heart
The installer works exactly the same in Ubuntu. Also you are wrong since Ubuntu has its own server edition.
>The target audience of Debian is
People who are interested in a fully free OS but don't care about non-free being an option. Debian isn't designed for servers, its just that lazy sysadmins decided to migrate to it because of its stability (years between releases rather than months).
>>
>>53357525
OP is right, this is a bug in the Debian live images. They don't come with grub, so you need internet connectivity to get the grub package to install from live. I've run into this myself, it's a valid bug on the Debian bug tracker.

Just goes to show Debian is a shit tier distro which has been btfo for ages. Anyone who uses Debian is a clueless crybabby who blindly accepts "the Debian way" (full of flaws mistakes bugs and workarounds) and thinks that "just install the package from testing" is a valid solution for a stable long-life distro.

Debtards need to get on the level of literally any other properly working distro, whether it's Ubuntu, Arch, Fedora, CentOS, or Gentoo.
>>
>>53357525
It's a known problem in the GUI installer. On the other hand, the non-GUI installer does its job just fine.

It happens because Linux is undersupported. I had to try a few times to get this current install working (but I have weird settings for my partition) dont lose faith, continue trouble shooting. except the kernel, you memelord. Yes it is modified but it still counts.
>>

>>
>>53358382
Android is only made usable by the proprietary drivers and apps that come with it, so you can't really call it Loonix. If people had the money they would have all switched to iPhones and Windows phones anyway.
>>
>>53358450
That's like saying that a Honda Civic and a Lamborghini are the same thing because they both have wheels.

Android is locked down, with drivers built-in for specific hardware, and a very limited interface (for good reason). It's the only way to make Linux usable.

Desktop Linux on the otherhand is horrible.
>>

>>
>>53358519
>What the fuck do you use root for?
not that guy, but you have to be ignorant af to claim that rooting has no advantages, being able to install xposed modules like obbonsd is great.
(obbonsd allows you to store .obb that are usually pretty big in size on sdcard, thus saving you some internal storage)
>>
>>53358542
>backup apps
For what reason? You can run an adblocker and sync time without root even on a POS like android.

I was referring to debian's graphical installer. Debian does not come preinstalled as far as i know, and i doubt that 99% of debian users used the graphical installer, because (as most of them are server owners or sysadmins) they know that it loads slower and is more likely to break. I always use the 20-40 MB netboot image which doesnt even have the graphical option
