Just wondering why porn sites never use a TLS connection? (or at least I never find one)
Maybe CAs don't want to validate them?

>Maybe CAs don't want to validate them?
Doubt it, but I really want TLS on porn too.
I don't want everyone to know my fetishes.
>>53311727
Exactly, maybe porn sites are where people would appreciate more privacy whit normal browsing, excluding for personal data like logins, transactions etc.
And switching to Tor or VPN just for that is boring.
There ain't good way to prove TLS for Hentai@Home-clients.
>>53311727
If people knew your filthy habits then maybe you wouldn't have them :^)
>>53311964
I don't get the reason.
>>53311692
Advertisers pay less for TLS enabled ads.
>>53312119
Hentai@Home is P2P network, so images gets loaded from random IP-addresses.
>>53311692
i use bing for porn
gnu/linu user xD
>>53311992
Suppressing is not the solution. I've overcome pretty much all weird fetishes I had the last 5 years.
The key is understanding why you have the fetish and fixing yourself. Not fapping to it doesn't help, and having people laughing at your about it doesn't help either.
>>53312135
This might be the real reason
>>53311692
>Maybe CAs don't want to validate them?
letsencrypt will
>Just wondering why porn sites never use a TLS connection? (or at least I never find one)
Because the people who set them up are clueless about cryptographic technology
>>53311692
Maybe they support both HTTP and HTTPS and your ISP is just MITMing you because they want to sell data on your porn fetishes?
>>53312285
>I've overcome pretty much all weird fetishes
Why would you?
>>53312345
Lol no
>>53312446
>Lol no
You really think your ISP isn't interested in selling your data?

>>53312135
This. It's an ad-network thing. Advertisers don't want to have to deal with TLS - they rarely use it themselves, and if the site does then the both of them have to figure out how to serve mixed content, which has its own bucket of problems.
Remember to give normies ad-blockers so we can drive more of these fucks out of business
>>53312390
I didn't try. It just sort of happened.
>>53312135
>>53312622
That's going to change really soon. Unencrypted HTTP will soon be a thing of the past.
>>53312622
Advertisers don't like TLS because it means they can't buy data about your interests from your ISP
= less targeted ads = less money for the advertisers
>>53312345
Huh. I never thought that they can simply switch or discard SSL requests.
>>53312966
>You try visiting https://boards.4chan.org
>Your PC tries connecting to boards.4chan.org on port 443
>Your ISP blocks or fakes the return packets to make it seem like port 443 is filtered or closed
>You sigh and use http://boards.4chan.org instead
I mean, wasn't this literally what the OP was about? Complaining about porn websites not supporting https. That implies he must have tried it.
>>53312514
Interesting, but did he actually work for Verizon?
Couldn't find anything.
>>53311692
waste of money?! certs cost money and they're not savvy enough to self sign? extra overhead?!
>>53313204
How fucking obvious do you have to make your satire for people to get it for a change?
>>53313234
It's obvious that he's satirical, but maybe he quit his job.
I know that these are common ISP tactics, but it's different to hear it from an ex-employee and different from a random "crypto expert" that uses an ironic theme for his presentations.
>>53313285
Fair enough, but he started his presentation with “Today's my starting day at a little company in the U.S. called Verizon”.
Also, Daniel J. Bernstein isn't some random "crypto expert".
>>53312150
(You)
>>53313016
>Your ISP blocks or fakes the return packets to make it seem like port 443 is filtered or closed
VPN
>>53313016
Shit like this is why HSTS exists
>>53312918
It's been on the cards for a while now.
Let me know when I can block port 80 and everything still works.
Protip - it's never happening.
>>53311692
Crypto means overhead
They'd rather have more users and capacity than care about whether or not they're delivering your SHEMALE PORN ADDICTION securely
>>53311727
TLS is confidentiality, not anonymity.
>>53312135
>>53312622
>>53312948
Advertisements don't need to be TLS encrypted, even if your website is. They can get side loaded.
>>53312665
That's called growing out.
>>53312918
>Unencrypted HTTP
'Unencrypted' feels redundant here.
>>53313460
>>>53313285
>Also, Daniel J. Bernstein isn't some random "crypto expert".
This, I was there (referring to earlier YouTube video).
>>53315834
>Crypto means overhead
Not anymore, it's negligible. CPUs even have optimised routines nowadays.
