>there are people browsing /g/ right now that are on 32bit operating system

8bit master race
>>53296958
you know there's generally little advantage to 64 bit if you have less than 4GB ram
it's not actually inherently faster
You're 100% right!
Want an autismal thin mint?
>>53296958
Outside of having 400 porn tabs out of which 100 are videos 50 are flash games and the rest are pictures or galleries in full load - what's the advantage of having over 4 gb of ram?
>>53297486
Virtualboxes
Muh vidya
>>53296958
I have an old laptop so I run a 32 bit os. Nothing wrong with that.
>>53297503
I don't get it why virtual box when it creates problems with hardware for the emulated os, you can do dual boot or live usb for that to be 100% efficient.
Vidya is degenerate tho.
I don't regret that I upgraded to 16 gb but other than my browser when used to browse porn ( I'm on no - fap now ) being at 12 gb - avg nothing else improved... it was the same as when I had 4 gb.
And now because I don't even watch porn I literally waste the ram.
Also I bought an i7 which I didn't even have to overclock because no matter what modern software I use it's never in more than 30% - 60% usage ( at max )
The only thing which is in full load and not even because of vidya is my video card - but that only when I render.
I feel for the upgrade pc for more than necessary meme.. never again from now on.
>>53296958
I'm running 32 bit android
>>53296958
>not being a 16bit fag running Windows 98
Pic related, 98 SE master race
At least I'm not pic related
>>53297699
Windows 98 master race
>>53297855
why the fuck
>>53297855
>15GB
Definitely not a VM
Haven't used a 32bit OS in fucking years. The fuck is wrong with people.
>>53298108
My android and x86 tablet are 32 bit.
>>53296958
>implying I'm going to use a 64-bit OS on a 32-bit CPU
>>53296984
Yest it is actually due to higher register count and word size.
>>53297571
It's been at least 5 years since upgrading became pointless for all but a few edge usage cases.
>>53297699
You're thinking of 3.1. Windows 95/98 was the first 32-bit Windows.
>>53296984
Might've been true 10 years ago. These days, 64-bit support is mainsteam, and compilers can put out very optimized 64-bit code that takes advantage of increased register count and etc.
>>53298232
Nah, 95/98 were hybrids.
>>53298267
The kernel was 32-bit, that's the important part.
>>53296958
Most ARM chipsets are 32-bit.
>>53298300
Isn't the kernel actually just a program running on top of DOS though?
Phone is 32bit, fight me.
>>53298216
At least at the rate I use my computer my pc will still be decent in 2 years. But I still invested more than I should've done...
>>53298343
Uhh, it's complicated. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_95#Dependence_on_MS-DOS
>>53296958
the human eye can't see above 32 bit
>>53298353
When's the last time you used a piece of technology until it physically failed instead of just becoming obselete and getting rid of it? The upgrade treadmill was always a stupid, wasteful idea. Gotta get the latest whatever! Moar megahurtz!
>>53298378
Jesus.
I see why they were such glitchy hacks now.
>>53298433
I swear everything which is modern and has huge advertising on it breaks up before warranty expires... back a decade ago warranty expired before the thing even breaking - hell my old computer is still functional today.
My geek cousin always told me to do this shit but I ignored him - buy second hand hardware - and put it back on sale once you buy it - always recycle your stuff and always have a more than decent hardware with basically minimal investment.
You are right about it... I just feel for the capitalism meme and I hope people that want to make a build and read this won't do the same, even for most advanced software today - which is required for big industries and where people are paid big time doesn't require powerful hardware... and if you're not a freelancer then you're going to use office hardware for render in design jobs.
>>53298419
Then why can I tell the difference between movies and vidya? Checkmate atheist.
>>53296958
Yeah, tons of androids running 32bit OS
