Does anyone know where I can get a safe free version or true-crypt/bit-locker or can you recommend me another free program I can use to encrypt my hard-drive and USB?
>also encryption and privacy general
>>
>>53262645
>true-crypt/bit-locker
mfw

Just Truecrypt
>>
>>53262664
Don't use any nonfree program for encryption. Period. Neither Truecrypt nor Bitlocker are free software.
>>
>>53262645
7.1a is the only acceptable version that hasn't been compromised. Verify hashes if you find a dl source. I have the link at home but I am in the office.
>>
>>53262690
Meant to quote OP
>>
>>53262690
You're retarded anon. Truecrypt has always been free.
>>
>Child Porn general
>>
>>53262720
>TrueCrypt was released under the "TrueCrypt License" which is unique to the TrueCrypt software. It is not part of the pantheon of widely used open source licenses and is not a free software license according to the Free Software Foundation (FSF) license list, as it contains distribution and copyright-liability restrictions.

>>53262722
gtfo faggot

>Hurr Durr you encrypt therefore pedo

2/10 for reply
>>
>>53263255
What else would you encrypt, pedo?
>>
>>53262761
yeah but it doesn't require money to install and use.

hmmm but that's not free due to some fine print

seems legit
>>
>>53263255
just use bitlocker then, because anyone who steals your computer isnt going to bother trying to decrypt anything.
>>
>>53263269
Are you seriously asking? That on /g/ of all places?
>>
>>53263269
Hmm lets see, given the over digitization of all paper forms in recent year, and also considering identity theft giving way to a whole new industry of credit monitoring, I'd say it's safe to assume security/privacy conscious consumers/users would seek to encrypt sensitive dox relating to their children's birth certificates, mortgage information, insurance information, all financial information, etc. You can see you should bait harder and demonize less users that use encryption for the right purposes. I wouldn't be surprised if you're part of some sort of anti encryption lobby. Overly zealous claim of pedo shit.

TL:DR Try again randy
>>
>>53263357
>digitization of all paper forms
Stop doing that then, pedo.
>>
>>53263280
>bitlocker

You do realize that shit can be circumvented easy. Like it's the easiest to break I've found. I'd trust Vera before I'd mess with Bitlocker.
>>
>>53263385
Ok now I kek

Well played anon

Any good forks for Android?
>>
>>53263394
again, anyone who steals your computer is not going to try to decrypt anything.

and if you get malware running on the machine you have already decrypted shit to the point where they can exfiltrate data

and without something like a memory dump you arent going to breaking it easily
>>
>>53263394
> that shit can be circumvented easy. Like it's the easiest to break I've found
DO IT FAGGOT
>>
>>53263277
So basically, you don't know what free software is...got it. Good luck with your encryption/privacy :)
>>
>>53263521
So if I don't pay any money it still costs money?
>>
>>53263521
You probably think that GPL software is a free software, faggot.
GPL is extremely restrictive. Stallman is a shill.
>>
>>53263461
I've done this anon multiple times. Truecrypt, not so easy. In fact, hidden containers have proven to be the hardest part of Truecrypt to break.
>>
>>53263644
>I've done this anon multiple times
Hello, NSA :)
>>
>>53263596
The word "free" has more than one definition. Not everything is about money.

>>53263617
Weak bait
>>
>>53263696
>bait
You're so brainwashed you don't understand what "free" is. CC0 is free. GPL is not.
>>
>>53263696
I understand it to be a closed program that doesn't carry a cost. I understand that the license definition designates this as non free software. However, the fact remains, Truecrypt 7.1a is still the safest bet regardless of it's license.
>>
Just write your own
>>
>>53262645
First the HDD.
>use BIOS
In windows: Diskcryptor.
In gnu/linux: Luks.
>use UEFI
In windows: Bitlocker.
In Gnu/linux: Luks

In case of USB:
Veracrypt for multiplataform or Luks for only linux(or Gnome Disk to make more easy. )
>>
I've been using Veracrypt for both Linux and Windows. More accurately I use Veracrypt to create an encrypted container that I open in both Linux and Windows.

Been thinking about using it to encrypt both of my drives on my laptop.
>>
>>53263719
Still weak
>>
>>53263758
This is dangerous to do unless you have a solid background in crypto. Even then who will audit your code?
>>
>>53263926
Whatever. Stallman fanboys are delusional anyway.
>>
>>53263277
>Calls anon retarded\
>Doesn't understand free software
lmfao
