Googled around for the last few hours and I legitimately can't find a solution.

Tried connecting a 360 to my PC cause fuck buying that wireless adapter. Cable's good, both ends work fine. But when they're connected neither device will pick up that it's connected to another. I've poked around the BIOS and the files and options and I can't find anything that seems to be blocking LAN connections. No mention of wires in Network Center.

Please fucking halp.

You what?
>>
Are you retarded?
>>
>>53252181
I must be.

But I'm too retarded to figure out what you're talking about.
>>
>>53252210
Is your ethernet enabled?
>>
>>53252149
This must be bait or a copypasta, you can't br this stupid.
Fuck it, i'll bite
You connected your xbox to your pc via ethernet?
>>
Plug the 360 to a wired port on your router, or buy the wireless adapter. Device to device direct doesn't work (well, it can be made to work, but not by someone of your intellect)

Based on my previous retardation, this is probably NOT what you're talking about. That said, I can't enable connections that it won't detect.

If the two devices are connected, there should be a LAN option, unless you're referring to something else.
>>
>>53252262
Yes, it is.

>>53252269
Well I believe in me.
>>
>>53252313
You (as in, you as a person) cannot connect a xbox to a pc via ethernet for internet. Thats not how it works. Connect your xbox to your router or buy the wireless adapter.
>>
>>53252332
There are systems in place to connect you xbox to PC via LAN, then enable network sharing to allow the xbox to treat your PC's connection as it's own. If I could get my PC to detect the xbox, I could do this. Therein lies the problem though.
>>
>>53252332
you technically can if you bridge the WiFi and Ethernet together, but OP is probably too retarded for that

Which I could do if >>53252303 wasn't the case. Which it is. The requisite second connection doesn't show.
>>
>>53252406
Are your Ethernet drivers even installed, that's the only reason I could imagine for Ethernet to not show. It shows even when nothing is connected if working properly
>>
>>53252431
I'll try downloading Ethernet drivers.

For people like me, simple solutions are pretty often beyond out grasp.
>>
>>53252472
Take it to geek squad
>>
>>53252149
ya need 2 network cards in the pc for that to work. the 2nd card is needed for the internet connection.

> But when they're connected neither device will pick up that it's connected to another
ya need to use a crossover cable, not the one that you used for the internet.
>>
>>53252516
It's a cat5e that's connecting them right now.
>>
>>53252516
I've bridged the wireless connection from my laptop to the Ethernet and used it to connect an Xbox before. Standard cat5 cable worked then
>>
>>53252332
please know what the fuck your taking about before you condescend

wrong (sort of wrong on the first one)
>ya need 2 network cards in the pc for that to work. the 2nd card is needed for the internet connection.

He has a Wireless card or adapter on his computer, so all he needs is to connect the cable from xbox to card then bridge the LAN to the wireless. But his NIC is not showing up

>ya need to use a crossover cable, not the one that you used for the internet.

This used to be true back then, not anymore though. I'm pretty sure OP doesn't have an old as shit NIC or PC.

Found the issue I think. Now how to get them without re-installing the telemetry updates.
>>
>>53252697
Are you from /fit/ or another board? because you have a long ways to go if you want this as a hobby or fixing shit for peeps.
>>
>>53252741
Yeah I know.
Step at a time, ironically I'm from /v/ and rarely if ever play consoles.
>>
>>53252777
You poor fagit. You on a laptop or prebuilt PC?
>>
>>53252787
Built it mostly myself, I had some help though.

I'm willing to bet it'd be a travesty compared to y'all set ups.

>wireless NICs aren't network cards

>>53252697
Retard
>>
>>53252806
Find out what your main board model is
Go to company's web site
Download the drivers
Not fucking hard
>>
>>53252812
>>wireless NICs aren't network cards
It identifies as a network adapter, in which is bridgeable. Ive done this before successfully running patch cable and crossover on a Pentium 4 emachines from 2005
>>
>>53252820
LAN Connection found.
Xbox connected.

Contemplating suicide and PC dismantlement.
>>
>>53252861
No shit. I was implying that they are NICs, learn in2 greentext

Doesn't seem to need an update, maybe the card, but still good. Just finished paying my car so i'll probably build one soon. This one is a mix of old shit lying around, craigslist, and ebay.
>>
>>53252697
As suspected, a driver issue
>>
>>53253059
Card definitely. Also another HDD, and a better i5 wouldn't hurt. And a better PSU.
>>
>>53252332
I used to do that with my laptop, the fuck are you talking about?
