Hello /g/ents,

What's the best laptop I can get for under $400? I need one for basically Internet, Photoshop, and Minecraft.
>>
Please don't make threads like this ever again, we are not tech support.

Get a laptop with an A10 APU like:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00NJNEA9C/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?qid=1456633014&sr=8-8&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=a10+7300+apu+laptop&dpPl=1&dpID=41raiE112yL&ref=plSrch
>>
Just go on Amazon or something and type in cpu benchmarks on google and compare them that way.

A used Thinkpad T420 with an i5-2520m and an SSD.
>>
>>53222808
This laptop has an iGPU with 384 gcn cores up to 533 MHz and a CPU with 4 x86 steamroller cores up to 3.2 GHz.

This should be more than enough for minecraft and even BF4 on medium 720p settings. The 8GB of RAM will help immensely with things like Photoshop and web browsing.
>>
>>53222754
Used thinkpad.

New laptop?
Asus F555LA

1080+i3.

Falcon really needs to rework the LI list.

This one is more than enough.

Latitude e6410 refurbished.
I think it usually comes with Win7 refurb edition. I wiped mine and loaded it with Arch. Might wipe Arch and load Gentoo soon, I think. I gotta buy another one and load some form of BSD onto it
>>
>>53223020
Not really, no. many intel hd igpu struggle with even minecraft.

expect a hot computer.
Other than that and that it has a 768p screen looks good enough.

If you can you should get something else.
>>
>>53223509
>128 gcn cores at 847 Mhz

Expect it to struggle with games beside minecraft. Sure as hell won't be able to run BF4

This looks promising but I'm thinking it's probably Intel graphics which will give me minecraft trouble.

You wont have any trouble running minecraft in a intel IGPU anon.

Its just minecraft.
>>
>>53223627
Just get a Asus F555LA, and problem solved OP.
More than enough for what you want a laptop for.

LMFAO, this is like 4x slower than the iGPU on the A8-7410 laptop above. It is guaranteed to have trouble running even minecraft.

>>53223627
>intel hd 3,000
Jesus christ kid, just stick to apus if you want to play video games at all.

>4GB of RAM
Well at least is has an hd graphics 5500 iGPU, that should be on par with the iGPU on the A8-7410 laptop. It's going to be horrible for Photoshop and heavy multi-tasking.
>>
>>53223750
No but seriously, this is the only time we will help you. You come here asking for tech support and we'll chew you out. I promise.

Might as well go all the way to E6430/E6440. The Intel HD card is good enough for Minecraft, which also benefit from the more powerful CPU.

And if a kangaroo like me can get it for under 400, US should not be a problem

First time I've ever seen something cheaper here than the US. My 3 years old Outlet E6430 was $600, and it had the NVIDIA card + 1600x900 screen. 320GB, 1366x768 and integrated only in [current year] is ridiculous
>>
>>53222754
Used Thinkpad/Elitebook/Latitude is always the answer.

~2012 models are best value, such as the one >>53222833 suggested.
>>
what's the cheapest thinkpad that will play bf4 respectably?
>>
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0195YX4UO?refRID=ETMW4WF4CK8XKFBSVSG6&ref_=pd_ybh_a_23

How is this one?
>>

perfect
>>
>>53227144
Excellent choice, I think this is it. Just remember this is a laptop with an APU so don't expect many games to run in 1080p and not lag. Things like minecraft and warface should be able to run in low-medium 1080p settings though.

Laptops that can play games like BF4 in 1080p cost over ~$900 so this is as good as a gaming laptop will get for around $500.

what's the fan noise and heat situation like with these amd laptop apus?

>what's the fan noise and heat situation like with these amd laptop apus?
Considering the A10-8700P is a fucking 15 watt tdp 28nm Carrizo APU, there should be low fan noise and good thermals. Very good performance as well, 4 x86 excavator cores @ 1.8 - 3.2 GHz and 384 gcn 1.2 cores @ 800 MHz. This is as good as it can possibly get before zen APUs.

Are there any good thinkpads with a smaller screen than 14"?
