Displaying 60 fps in a 30 fps video?

Hey there, /g/, have a question to ask you all regarding frames.

I have some video to record at 480p that runs at 60 frames per second, but YouTube only supports 60 fps starting at a quality setting of 720p.

Now, I know it's possible to display 60 fps video in a 30 fps video by using a technique called "frame blending" (or "optical flow", apparently), but I have no idea how to apply it (there appear to be scripts for AviSynth, but I can't find any and I don't know how to code them myself).

I wanted to know if someone knows a way to blend frames like that, or how to somehow "compress" 60 fps into 30 fps video at 480p quality.

Yes, this is for YouTube, but mostly private use that I need it for.

Any help?

Thanks for your input.
>>
you can't unless you mess with the playback speed which would make the sound/video unsynchronized thus useless

it's very simple: don't

youtube wil reencode it, so whatever you do will not work unless you upscale it to 720p
>>
>>53213115
You know what I mean.

>>53213117
I'm aware of that...
This seems to - once again - be my only option.
Thanks for reminding me of this.

this encodes a 60fps video to a 30fps one
ffmpeg -i input.ext -r 30 output.ext

Just upscale the video to 720p
Bam. 60fps in YouTube
>>
But... It won't be 60fps...
This thread makes no sense
>>
you can only get 60fps from the original if you duplicate each frame , which is stupid .
with frame blending , between two frames you insert an intermediary frame which is the a blending of the previous and next frame, which is still retarded and stupid.

OP just give up

>>53212957
yeah that works out okay if you're watching a film from a reel as there are gaps in between frames that removes blur
>>
>>53212940
either;
a. scale it up to 720p
b. interlace it (you can do 60 fields/s in a 30 frames/s video), youtube probably won't store it efficiently, but it's the only way to get 60hz motion in a 30hz video
>>
>>53213913
It's okay, OP is retarded, he won't notice the diference anyway

Back to 1890 I go.

you've never been to a movie theater?
>>
>>53215170
Where do you live anon that still plays movies on reels? Welcome to 2016.
>>
>>53215206
most still do and the ones that don't are probably using a low persistence laser projector not like what you would find in a desktop monitor
>>
>>53212940
Can I ask you what's so outlandish about rendering that video to 720p instead of 480p?
>>
>>53215228
>Most still do
No they do not. Digital movies have been the standard in film for nearly a decade.

>Comparing projectors to desktop monitors
You're trying to get bullied aren't you?
>>
>>53215228
>>53215276
or I guess it depends where you live but motion picture was still mainstream up until a couple years ago so anyone born in the last ~30 years probably is used to seeing film that way

> standard in film for nearly a decade
lolno
only in the past few years has that been the case

The comparison of projectors to desktop monitors only relates to why movie theaters can display 24fps content and your monitor can't properly.

>>53212940
I have no idea what you're talking about, but you can't have 60FPS at 30FPS, that's retarded.

If you've got a 480p 60FPS and want to upload to YT at 60FPS the solution is to upscale offline and then upload.
Upscale 480p 60FPS > 720p 60FPS and upload the result to YT. That's the natural way to do it.

>>53214721
He's almost right. Human eye can't see above 24fps, but we have 2 of those ergo we can see up to 48fps. That's why the best movie ever made "The Hobbit" was made in 48fps.

which one is better
original or upscaled to 60fps?
>>
>>53215674
>>53215696
They both look equally horrendous.
>>
>>53215696
I'm surprised people are so against upscaling. That second one looks a shitload better.
>>
>>53215696
>>53215674
Are you just using -r 60 or are you applying a filter to this to make it 60fps?
