Can easily get equally powerful laptops with 1080p ips panels for $350 cheaper.

Well I'm a hyper poorfag and I managed to build my own computer with 128gb ssd, 1tb storage, i5 2500k, and r9 290 with the rest of the parts to match for less than $800. This $1,500 is amazing to the point that I feel like I'm watching someone getting literally robbed. Yes, I do actually mean literally in its definitive sense.

>comparing "building" your own desktop to a laptop
Just kill yourself.
Please.
Just kill yourself.
>>
>>53203215
This one is a lot more reasonable compared to the OP. The OP is a $400 computer at most.
>>
>>53203264

The chinkpad is worth $200 at most.

>windows 10 pro, not home premium.

Yeah such shit value compared to a macbook when it's twice as powerful.
>>
>>53203248
Look, I understand that I didn't actually build it, and I understand that laptops in general are going to be more expensive for a multitude of reasons. I just imagined that the fact that I was able to get my level of hardware for almost half of the price of that laptop when the laptop's hardware is barely even comparable to mine was a bit strange at best. Do you not agree?
>>
>>53203277
You realize that the price of a computer isn't dependent on the screen resolution, right? That being said, I still somewhat agree with you, although it's still worth $300 at a minimum. It's fairly powerful hardware wise.

You do realize that OP's image was in monopoly money right? You can get a Macbook with the same specs for cheaper. Lenovo is a ripoff.

I think my phone has better specs than that.

Desktops are much better value than laptops, but if you're looking for a laugh check out the imacs.

>>

It says A$, Australian dollars.
Not M$ monopoly dollars.

Holy shit you're dense
>>
>>53203436
Not with those specs.
They should have gone with a better screen though.
>>
>>53203029
>not even 1080p

If I wanted a shitty screen I'd settle on the ideapad 100s
>>
>>53203304
No, I don't agree.

The cost of making very small computer parts is extremely high, and it grows exponentially. You basically need to redesign your manufacturing process--you need a new factory.

You also have to completely redesign the parts themselves. I mean...just try running your computer without a fan and see how well that works out. Even if you can somehow magically get it to boot, would you be comfortable placing that on your lap? It would burn you.

Plus, you need really smart people to solve these kinds of problems, and they cost a lot of money.
>>
>>53205001
I disagree.
I have a barely average iq and I am certain I could design a laptop with good cooling and performance. Any idiot could do it.

Note I'm talking about design, not actually putting the hardware together. I don't have the qualifications to design a motherboard with a cpu and gpu.
>>
>>53203215
>i7 gotta go fast processor
>16GB DDR4 2133MHz memory
>512GB SSD
Better in every single way
>>
>>53206005
Plus no noticeable difference between 768p and 900p.
>>
>>53205001
wait so you're going to actually defend a laptop with a shit screen and shit hardware, which wouldn't even have a large thermal footprint in the first place, that costs $1500 on the basis that it's hard to make it cold? Are you retarded? You can go easily find a laptop that costs almost and 1/8th of this laptop and it will perform the same. This is a complete rip-off.
>>
>>53206190
>Costs 1/8th and will perform the same

[citation needed]
>>
>>53205115
What the fuck does this even mean? What the hell are you even designing if you aren't designing the board? The casing?

>>53206190
You have shit reading comprehension. I was responding to the idiot who thinks the costs of assembling a custom pc is in any way related to the costs of manufacturing an ultraportable laptop. I'm not defending anything.

everything apple is pretty overpriced to begin with, but they do everything in house so you have to consider R&D costs too.
