I got the galaxy s6 as a gift and I dont want my finger accidently touching the home button. How do I cover up the fingerprint scanner?
>>
>>53128886
put the phone in the microwave for 3 minutes, some crazy russian life hacker created the technique, it makes the fingerprint scanner null

You think you actually have to enable it? They can still get your prints if your using a pass code just from regular use.
>>
>>53128975
Do you actually expect to be someone important in your life or do something grand that will warrant you even thinking anyone would care to copy your thumb print?
>>
>>53129123
Im just chosing to opt out of government fingerprint collection. Whats wrong with that.
>>
>>53129202
you have to give a thumb print to get a fucking drivers license or id the government already has your finger prints unless you're a tinfoil hat shut in. get the fuck over it and stop being paranoid, if they wanted your prints they'd have them.

Freedom is important my friend. Remember that information given away cannot be taken back and even if they currently don't use it for anyrhing too malicious that we know about it's only a matter of time.
>>
>>53129809
ok, honest question here.
What's the worse you believe the government can do to you with your print. Or what do you think they may do?
>>
>>53130034
Ok what if the goverment decides they no longer want me to tell people about goverment collection online (I post about it almost every day) and decide they want to quietly "remove" me from the discussion. I don't want to make it any easier for them to track me if I have to disappear. Go ahead and call me crazy but you will see... Give it 10 years...

i didn't say nothing to hide nothing to lose, i said your fingerprints are insignificant. by the time you get fingerprinted you've done something fucked up anyway. there's nothing to be gained from a fingerprint that can't be gained through other means. stop being a paranoid faggot, it's not a cuck you just need to lighten the fuck up.
>>
>>53128886
You should sell it and get a cheap motorola due to the fact that there are plenty schematics available for them.

If you really want the S6, then just flash it and install a CustomROM.
>>
>>53128886
You're like those people who put stickers on laptop webcams. Off yourself
>>
I never understood this meme tech. What else would you use the finger scanner except for unlocking your phone which most of the time doesn't even need to be locked.
You just got meme'd hard by following trends and letting manufacturers gag you with another marketing gimmick.
>>
>>53132838
Anon, not everybody is a shut in.

If you commute alot, then having a strong password + fingerprint is a pretty good way to keep others from breaking into if it's stolen.

I really don't understand why people are so paranoid? The quicker the govt can find and stop terrorists and people that disrupt our lives, the better off we all are.

OP are like the people that try to get out of paying taxes and then complain when it takes the police or paramedics more than 2 minutes to arrive

Disable it in the settings, alternatively some kind of custom rom that fucks it up.

Please never handle security on anything relvant in your life, or maybe you are just follwing that advice and that's why you don't care about your privacy.
>>
>>53136159
the courts in several countries have already rules on the "expectation" of privacy though

phones are just utilities

and just like how in public people and govt can record you as they like

Buy an LG G4, a clearly superior phone.

The s6 is known to be a fucking huge pain in the ass if something so trivial as a sim card slot breaks (which it often did on the s5). You have to remove and possibly crack the whole entire front display assembly to access anything. It's one of the hardest phones to repair/get repaired.

Meanwhile LG makes an effort to make their phones easy to repair and upgrade. The camera on the G4 is also better as far as the results you get from RAW photos.
>>
>>53128886
>I got the galaxy s6 as a gift
Someone must really hate you.
>>
>>53136488
I'm being serious, if all the companies are already in bed with NSA/CIA/etc then the only way to avoid it all is to go "off the grid" for real and we know none of us on /g/ are gonna do that

so at this point isnt it better to just look at the upsides of it all? you cant stop it anyway
>>
>>53136526
I don't give a shit how many companies are in bed with big brother, as long as it's not all of them it's still a fight worth fighting. It's cool and all that you've decided to given up your privacy and embrace the datamining, but don't complain when others don't.
>>
>>53136556
>implying any of the small companies have the legal means or backbone to resist govt when the big companies are all in bed with them

can you cite your companies you think arent compromised?
also can you elaborate on how you havent given up? what are YOU personally doing about it?
>>
>>53136504
Yeah I know. They knew I only use it for calling too... A dunbphone would have been just fine.
>>
>>53134171
How could your phone be stolen, are you a manlet? Do you forget things behind you? Then maybe you deserve to have them stolen.

If you just take care of your stuff, you'll never need a fingerprint scanner. What is more retarded is that this is taking a whole button on the front of the phone just for this function you only use for one purpose mostly. Personally, I'd rather have gesture-based unlocking.

In fact, forget that, they should have embedded the scanner in the screen, then maybe they had a case. Until then, it's a meme tech, just another selling bullet point for the marketing team.

"Does it have a fingerprint scanner? But look, that model doesn't have a fingerprint scanner, buy our model."

It also doesn't have 4k display, why are you even buying it.
>>
>>53136159
>online
>privacy

Pick one.

Online privacy is like going to a public toilet to take a piss and complain you don't have privacy because someone might be looking at your dick.
>>
>>53137617
So what you're saying is I should piss right next to the creepy guy wearing his Google Glass than 5 urinals down because it's hopeless, he's probably staring at my dick anyway?
>>
>>53130316

>I've been much more careful.

No you haven't, you have a fucking mobile device.

Regardless of whatever alias you've used with your device, if the government wanted to 'remove you' they'd associate your 'crimes' with that alias, track that phone and then bam.

How do you sleep at night? Are you legitimately paranoid that the government will detect dissension in your dreams?
>>
>neets on /g/ thinking they could out run or out hide the govt if they were wanted.

lol
>>
>>53137648
You should try optimism some time.

Use one of those carbon fiber skins you find online like dbrand or slickwraps. If you don't like them just use the button piece to cover it
>>

I think I'll use functional and useful tools instead of tipping my tinfoiled fedora whilst the feds catch me at home due to not knowing when they're coming for you.
>>
>>53137841
Who said you can't do both?
>>
>>53138170
Some people need that 0.01 seconds of giving away their fingerprints and not unlocking it with passwords or other methods, pro tip boys, you can change your password, you can't change your fingerprint, use some common sense, don't just be beta testers of everything new.

also the FP scanner wouldn't care about your cheeto-covered sausage fingers unless you activate it. You can always get covers for the buttons so the Illuminati don't discover your sekret loliporno stash.

>>53137642
No, if you want total privacy you should probably only expect to have it in your own home toilet. In public toilets, there is always a risk of meeting some creep staring at your dick.

So, as long as the internet is public, there is the risk of someone sniffing your public communications. You can only remove that risk 100% by having your own private internet.

And yeah, you never know, the government may be also watching you taking a shit in a public toilet. Just because they want to make sure you're not setting up a bomb in the toilet, they might be watching what you're doing in there.

i didn't go full retard, keeping your fingerprints secretive from the "government" does nothing for you, especially since they probably have a hand print of you from when you were born anyway. get over it, it's not a security issue you're just a paranoid faggot.

>I'm afraid that the gov will track me down with the fingerprint and kill me
You do realise that they have every single info about what you are doing in your life? They can ask for your house documents, your car license, documents, your birth certificate, all your purchases with your credit card and the location, etc. Unless you go live in an abandoned shack in the woods (which won't take too long to track you down) there's no fucking need to cover the home button. But if your tinfoil is really hurting your anus that much, then put some duct tape on it and you will be 'fine'.
