if you actually require a numpad you should buy a nice dedicated one, they're a fucking useless eyesore for 99% of users

But I want it attached to my keyboard.

If you don't want a numpad you should JUST FUCKING BUY A KEYBOARD WITHOUT ONE.

WE LIVE IN A WORLD WITH LARGE AMOUNTS OF CHOICE AND PEOPLE STILL COMPLAIN THAT THERE ARE OPTIONS THEY DON'T LIKE AVAILABLE WHICH THEY DON'T HAVE TO BUY.

This kills me every time.

Along with special colored WASD keys when ESDF is the superior position and the real pros use RDFG so they can bind even more shit directly around the movement keys.

I like ESDF though because it's also the home position for the left hand.

Before desktop PSU's became modular, I used to think that all the extra harnesses for the hardware I didn't use was pure bloat.
>>
>>53108821
OP has a point though. You'll find numpads on a lot of 15" laptops and not many people are data crunchers. Even worse is the touchpad is often centered around the spacebar so it's not centered because of the numpad leading to ergonomic discomfort.
>>
>>53108777
or use a thinkpad + number pad instead of cd drive
number pad can be stored inside of laptop, no addotional space, profit!
>>
>>53108880
>large amounts of choice

Yet the only decent laptop touchpad is only available on MacBooks...

kek

Yea sure it doesn't make sense in a laptop, where you need the space, but on a desktop keyboard, unless you are an uberminimalistic autist, a numpad is very useful.
>>
>>53108679
I need a smaller capacity drive.... to boot five seconds faster

I'm always maxing out the 150 MB in my hdd
>>
>>53109431
There are no decent touchpads.
>>
>>53109377
You buy the fancy ones that look "high performance", buy dust filters, tons of fans to create a directional air flow, water cooling system, led lights, add some addition front port peripherals, etc
>>
>>53108652
The numpad has its uses unbeknownst to plebs like yourself

Semantics. I would say there are no "good" touchpads but the MacBook one is acceptable akin to how Firefox is the least bad of the browsers.

Because USB3 is already faster than mechanical drives and about as fast as SATA3.
>>
>>53109545
it was more cumbersome than USB 3 but no faster, in practice. Cables were shorter, couldn't supply power, was finicky with plugging and unplugging. (I believe earlier revisions needed you to only do so with the machine powered down) And the SATA-to-USB3 adapter chip and its associated circuit board cost all of like five bucks.
>>
>>53109584
esata + usb 3.0 in a combined port exist!
>>
>>53109416
>Even worse is the touchpad is often centered around the spacebar so it's not centered because of the numpad leading to ergonomic discomfort.
that's not the numpad's fault, that's just manufacturers being retarded

>hey guys, I have an idea, let's make the touchpad on our new laptop off-center
>yeah, that might be a good idea, 95% of our users are right-handed so it will be more ergonomic if we move it to the right
>NO YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND WELL MOVE IT A BIT TO THE LEFT FOR NO APPARENT REASON FUCK PEOPLE I SUCK COCKS

there's just absolutely no reason to make the touchpad centered around the space bar.
>>

poweredEsata? It is a thing!
>>
>>53109440
>Yea sure it doesn't make sense in a laptop, where you need the space
on anything 15" or bigger you can either add a numpad or have a lot of wasted space on both sides of the keyboard. Although personally I'd prefer if they added a normal home/end/pgup/etc and arrow block instead of integrating those keys around the keyboard in weird places.
