Is Denuvo DRM not the gayest fucking shit to ever come out. like fucking seriously I can't torrent new games like far cry primal now because this piece of fucking shit DRM is uncrackable.

DRM altogether is for cucks. i support free as in freedom software and this shit makes my sphincter clench
>>
That's what the point of DRM is, dumbass. Give it a month or two for a crack to come out

The one group working on it gave up, this ones real hardcore apparently
>>
>>53087103
How's it work? Does it provide a bad user experience for someone that payed?
>>
>>53089303
I think it encrypts and decrypts shit on the fly. And the keys are based on the users machine on something.
>>
Nothing is uncrackable.
>>
>>53089258
>Not sending a backdoor to the game devs
>Not stealing the source files
>Not compiling the game without the DRM

These guys aren't hardcore.
>>
>>53089361
I was referring to the DRM itself, but sure
>>
>>53087103
Oh no now you have to buy games like everyone else. okay I know that people like to pirate but come one, if everyone just pirated then no games would ever get made, so stop acting all entitled to free stuff.
>>
>>53090073
It would be better if games were no longer being made
>>
>>53089323
What's stopping them from just snagging the decrypted software out of memory?
>>
Does denuvo lower framerates?
>>
>>53089165
>a month or two

They've had 5. 3DM'sleader Bird Sister said the groups is quitting. Then last week she said they're having another go at it after apparently being baited by other chinks calling 3DM a bunch of quitting pussies.

But we still have no denuvo circumvention.
>>
>>53087103
Just start refunding through steam and play the games offline. Block steam from going online until you beat it.
>>
>>53089258

Sucks. That's what you get for encouraging them with muh vidya

The performance hit can be up to ~10% from what I've seen/experienced. It also writes constantly and wrecks SSDs
>>
>>53091068
>It also writes constantly and wrecks SSDs
Its not 2009 anymore anon
>>
>>53092152
The first game that used Denuvo was FIFA 15 which came out in September 2014. Also, the underlying technology that allows Denuvo to function requires it to constantly change the encryption cipher to prevent it from being cracked, ie writing to the disk. If that functionality was removed then the DRM would be useless.

What stops you from simply intercepting all denulo system calls
>>
>>53087103
It has never actually been circumvented directly. For ubisoft games there are exploits that are used that circumvent Uplay and denuvo just doesn't know the difference.
>>
>>53087103
> uncrackable
Nope. Modern debuggers just aren't good with x64 software yet. Wait a couple of years.
>>
It's an anti-tamper solution, not DRM. Unlike encryption, it can't really commit honorable suicide in order to protect its payload, so it'll be cracked given sufficient interest, time and resources.

>>53094045

So, when is the videogame industry rolling back to free game demos?
>>
>>53096168
we're getting open and closed betas now before release. better than nothing
>>
>>53096192
Nothing like being an unpaid bug tester.
>>
>>53096750
If they actually wanted bug testing they wouldn't release "beta"s two weeks before release
>>
>>53092731
True, too many steam threads lately.
>>
>>53087517
this, fuck DRM and proprietary software.
>>
>>53096772
Yeah they would. They still need to see how it tests out in semi-open settings before release.

And most betas are at least a month before release.
>>

From the sounds of it, it's doing a stellar job.

Top fucking kek.

ALL the groups are working on it right now, this is the shit legends are born of.

>>53090601
Only if your CPU is weak. Obviously still a thing, having additional overhead all for the sake of getting absolutely 0 extra sales.

>>53087103
>uncrackable
Until the pressure builds and builds until one of those crazy as fuck eastern european scene groups find where the people who made it live and start threatening them IRL.

Nothing with a human element is ever uncrackable.
>>
>>53090601
No
>>53091068
>It also writes constantly
Bullshit
>>
>>53087517
I'm OK with DRM existing. I'm also OK with free software, and I prefer it over propietary. Just like free software has the freedom to be shared and modified, it makes sense if some people want to sell their software, and protect it from being copied/altered in order to actually get units sold and have control over something they made. Not everything should be free by force.
>>
>>53097854
Only one group has been successful in breaking it.
>>
>>53087103
stop being poor and buy the fucking games you faggot.
>>
>>53097834
It's like you people have never heard of IDA.
Sure Olly is better at actual dynamic analysis, but IDA has had a working patch function for years now.

senpai my job revolves around me using IDA, and I still have to crack open olly every now and then, and I'm telling you the world of x64 debuggers lies in a sad state.

We just need to hire a mafia somewhere in europe to threaten the software ennginers who created it. Make their families beg for their lives.

1. No one is paying me to do it.
2. That shit takes time and it's no fun to code.
3. My area of expertise is malware, of which most are 32 bit since they want to have the largest target-pool possible, even though I do see the odd 64 bit ones they are not proffesionally made and more often than not are just POC.

Why would anyone play an ubisoft game anyway? Let alone any of the "uncracked" denuvo games...

Denuvo is to keep you from playing shitty games.

Kinda have to agree. There's nothing that really makes it worth playing tripleA games anymore. Except for the rare gem.
>>
Only garbage AAA games use Denuvo, who cares.
