It's pretty much the perfect distro. Ignore the buttmad & conceited Arch users. Manjaro is Arch without all the bullshit, and that infuriates Arch users.

I like it. I've been using it for half a year now.
It's the Cinnamon edition though.
>>
>>53040579
One of the best distros out there.
It's basically arch but more stable. people will argue is not as bleeding edge and what not, while it is true, manjaro is only about 2 weeks behind arch but thanks to that you get to have a slightly more stable system.
Fags only get angry because it makes arch more accesible to more people, which make Muh secret haxor club members angry.

best distro I've ever used, and I used to be a distro jumper. I've tried at least 20 of them and Manjaro is the one I like the most.

In any case you'll get hate from people who have used it 2 years ago.

Its arch without any fuss, everything just works out of the box. I was using it for around a year and nothing broke ever + you still get pacman which is one of the best package manager (imo).
>>
Set up Manjaro xfce on a VM yesterday for testing, considering putting it on my uni laptop.
Seem pretty good so far.

It's for linux babbies who are unable to follow the simple instructions to install Arch.

been using it for almost 3 years now, with no problems other than my bitmap fonts getting fucked up after an update a few months ago.
Never figured out why, so I just stopped using them.

Probably isn't even Manjaro's fault.
>>
It's pretty damn great. I've just tried it recently and it works fantastically. User friendliness and ease of use, without sacrificing updates (too much).
Has no problems running on some pretty damn old and obscure hardware, so I'm absolutely delighted. I know I struggled with other distros.

better off just installing ubuntu or debian, if not, straight arch
>>
>>53040579

Defeats the whole purpose of using Arch and users shit up Arch boards when something inevitably breaks. So basically cancer.
>>
>>53040579
Either that or arch are fine, I guess
>>
Used it couple years back when it first released. It was meh. Now it's actually good and it's my distro of choice.
>>
>>53040833
It's not really like using Arch though. It was the first distro I used instead of Windows, long-term. I went with it thinking it would be like easing my way into Arch. I liked it a lot too.

When I did move to Arch finally I ended up really disliking it. The installation isn't as bad as people make it out to be, and that was actually interesting and educational. Daily use though just felt like a huge fucking chore.

I ditched it for OpenBSD, and that's the OS I use for serious work. I hop between Linux distros for non-serious stuff but I usually always end up back with Manjaro or Mint. I like those two about equally, maybe slightly preferring Manjaro.

just use Architect if you're too lazy to do regular Arch install.

Serious question
What's with all the anal pain surrounding arch? It takes all of 15 mins to install and like an hour to set up and rice.
After that all you need to do is update once a month.
What's with all the "muh maintenance" memes? Are people really this retarded? Arch is easier than Debian in day to day use tbqh

Good distro, arch in easy mode.
I've run into a few issues but it's mostly XFCE fault.

I really like that Manjaro has community builds/editions. Is there something like that for arch? Like are there preconfigured BSPWM builds, or i3 Builds, or Openbox builds?

That goes against the "spirit" of Arch. You're meant to configure it yourself, and they'll never ever release such a version or endorse one

It's great so is Antergos (I liked Antergos more than Manjaro). However after using Antergos for a week, I just asked myself why and realized there was no reason not to switch to Arch (Installing is not hard, it's exaggerated though).

So you can either use two distros that eliminate the need for you to write pacstrap /mnt base base-devel or use the actual thing when you have two evenings available. Because that's all it takes to learn everything you need if you are just an average linux user. If you are a beginner why use Arch forks when there are way better alternatives.
>>
>>53047104

What's the point of "moving" from Antergos to Arch? You're literally just installing the same packages again.

It's not that hard to install packages, I'm just running a script. Also why not use the original distro for the same repos? Moreover I learned a thing or two while installing it.
>>
>>53040579

I was too insecure to install Arch and dual-boot with Windows
Works great

except he didn't call them better but deprecated, which is very true as most are not maintained anymore and the backend is rapidly changing with systemd, polkit, dbus, ...
