I've always figured it has only a negligible effect, unless you still use IDE and have half a dozen ribbon cables. I just manage my cables because i think it looks better and keeps them out of my way if i need to replace or add something.

Cable management is for looks and for making it easier to work inside of your computer without needing to unplug half of the computer just to get at your RAM.

Way back when it mattered more, when modular PSUs weren't a thing, standard PC cases put the PSU on the top not the bottom so you had a rats nest feeding through everything, and any computer with multiple harddrives/optical drives had fat ass IDE ribbons everywhere. But that all changed.

In theory it could help with airflow, but only in extreme sitautions and not in a significant way. As the video demonstrated.

But I mean, you should manage your cables.

Linus Tech Tips isn't technology.

He is a label reader, he doesn't know anything.
He doesn't know even basic physics.
He doesn't know even basic math.
He doesn't have, and never had, a legit tech job.
He doesn't have any tech related degree/diploma/course certification.
Yet in spite of all of this he acts like he knows anything.
His Linkedin is full of management bullshit, swimming instructor, and boyscout.

He is a fucking marketer. His hardware reviews are about as informative as reading the fucking PDF. The average joe is more likely to get fucked over by listening to his idiocy.
His "humor" is 9gag level.

He is so fucking tech illiterate that he had to employ a special writer for his TechQuickie channel because he's too stupid himself. The same faggot who tried to push a spiritual book as a solution for carpal tunnel or something.

His group is a marketing group, not a tech group.

He pays his faggot employees minimum wage, his ad revenue has halved, and YT revenue is shit in the first place. He had to Internet beg for money in order to move to an office, that he managed to get ripped off on because he is a dumb faggot (self-admittedly).

If you want computer case angles and proper feature description with objective reviews, you watch those faggots HardwareCanucks, who even go as far as overviewing fucking dust filters.

If you want to post an actual on-topic /g/ related YouTuber, you post people who actually have tech jobs, tech education, and practical application, like Wendell from TekShitdictate and the Linux channel, or Louis Rossman for board repair and reading blueprints.

Linus Tech Tips is not /g/, it is >>>/biz/. Fuck off.

And, since you're not going to read it, I assume because you can't, I'll summarize.

The molecular weight of h2o is lighter than n2 and o2, so when you substitute one molecule of n2 or o2 for water, the vapor becomes lighter.
The only reason water is heavier than air is density. If air and water were the same density (read, water vapor) the water vapor would be lighter.

THAT HAS FUCK ALL TO DO WITH CONSUMER HOMEBUILT PC COMPONENTS. I don't know what the fuck you think its possible to learn or prove but it essentially just comes down to how much hands on time you can get making and testing these PC's, thats it. Anyone with even rudimentary objective and analytical discussion/thinking can achieve this.
>>
>>53004109
A fan can push moist air easier than dry air, what don't you get? It's less dense. It's harder to push oil than water, correct?
https://www.exploratorium.edu/baseball/howfar3.html
>>
>>52997048
It used to matter when IDE cables were 4.5 inches wide and could block an entire fan with sata cables not so much
>>
>>53004182
>THAT HAS FUCK ALL TO DO WITH CONSUMER HOMEBUILT PC COMPONENTS.
It has all to do with knowing the difference between HDDs and SSDs, the forms of data dissipation due to the nature of how they contain data, reading the actual academic papers in relation to this and knowing how to read them, and not being stupid enough to state that SSDs are a complete replacement for HDDs solely based on potential data quantity and cost ratios which are the two least important traits when discussing the differences of nature between the two devices.

Anon, you are stupid, and so is Linus.
Now get the fuck out.

I don't think it does.

The amount they had to do to cause a temperature increase shows there is no thermal difference between good cable management and meh cable management.

Good cable management is far more aesthetically pleasing though, and tends to make things a hell of a lot easier when you do upgrading or whatever.

For a handful of cylindrical cables to block laminar airflow to the point that it has a significant effect on non-radiative heat transfer, your atmosphere would have to be a metallic liquid, at which point your rig overheating is the least of your problems.

There's a reason why cooling fans are large.
Unless your case has drinking straws for vents, as long as there's net in-through-one-side>over-components>out-through-another-side flow, it just doesn't matter that much.

I have no horse in the race (I do some basic cable management so I can access components with ease and not have a spaghetti of cables covering everything), most exteme cable-management people do dumb shit. Cable extensions that result in voltage drop. Squished and pinched cables that result in reliability and longevity problems. I've even encountered a broken motherboard SATA connector after the user tried to do a 270 degree curve on the SATA cable to put it under the motherboard.
>>
>>52994738
Except for the fact it literally changes FUCKALL. What the fuck do you expect, to get some shitty wire to the side and get double performance and half the temps?

Unless you literally have a fucking barrier of wires actively cockblocking coolers, which is literally impossible since there aren't even that many cables inside, aside from the ones from non-modular PSUs, then cable management does jack fucking shit.
