Sure, MPC-HC has become just as depreciated because of mpv as Windows has because of Linux. Well, almost as much, given that mpv isn't even close to Linux's desktop market share.

What's wrong with VLC?
>>
So I see interpolation recommended a lot, some people even post test videos to try it on and off. Problem is, those test videos are all Anime. Is that all it's good for? With interpolation enabled during high action scenes of "real" movies (meaning live recordings of physical actors, not animation), it gets real funky. Not really choppy, but like almost blurry.
>>
If i were to use
backend=angle,dxinterop

Would that successfully fall back to dxinterop for 10-bit content? I don't seem to get an error when running mpv in cmd. Is there a way to see which backend is being used during playback?
>>
>>52572944
Nope. The problem there is that ANGLE doesn't error out when it's given 10-bit content, it just requires mpv to insert a conversion filter, which it does automatically. If backend=dxinterop works for you without presentation glitches, I recommend just using it.

>Is there a way to see which backend is being used during playback?
Yep. Use
--msg-level=vo=v
. mpv will print something like:
[vo/opengl] Initializing OpenGL backend 'angle'
[vo/opengl] GL_VERSION='OpenGL ES 3.0 (ANGLE 2.1.0.)'
[vo/opengl] Detected GLES 3.0.
[vo/opengl] GL_VENDOR='Google Inc.'
[vo/opengl] GL_RENDERER='ANGLE (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 Direct3D11 vs_5_0 ps_5_0)'
[vo/opengl] GL_SHADING_LANGUAGE_VERSION='OpenGL ES GLSL ES 3.00 (ANGLE 2.1.0.)'

I noticed the pans were choppier with ANGLE anyway so it doesn't seem to be running as well.

>--msg-level=vo=v
Cool, thanks.

>>52573049
50% of the threads on /g/ are tech support.
>>
>>52573070
Yep. dxinterop uses flip-mode present and low latency rendering, so it should have better timing than ANGLE at the moment. Right now, ANGLE is just good for shitty graphics cards and drivers that don't support desktop GL.
>>
>>52573085
I just hope Vulkan comes out soon so everyone is on the same playing field. They did say early 2016 but I still don't have too much hope in it.
>>
>>52572936
I find interpolation does wonders for live action content. I'm pretty sensitive to judder, so having interpolation on makes the motion look a lot smoother for me. I also use the SmoothMotion-style
tscale=oversample
, so you could try that. It should be less blurry.

I'm trying this but it's laggy as hell, the CPU usage isn't even 100% actually it's using only 25%. I had the same problem in MPC so I switched to MPV but how comes it's the same? is there a reason why decoders don't use more than one CPU?

it's using the gpu a lot more genius
there are not many machines that could handle that, especially if you were using a 120hz monitor
>>
>>52573249
I don't know what happened but now I reopened the file and it's playing very smooth in full screen, only windowed lags. My GPU is running at 70° should I be worried?
>>
>>52573343
no, 70 is fine
>>
>>52573359
ok it used to be 56-60°C in MPC, I'll try watching some 1080p 10-bit and see how it goes, by the way the GPU is GT 630.
>>
>>52573343 (cont.)
I think there's a bug, I'm using mpv-2016.01.22-Win64 on insane vo config, I don't know whether it's related to buffering or switching between windowed/full screen mode, but switching between them fixed the lag completely, sometimes I need to switch 2-3 times.

I'm using a m3u playlist to test, with all EDs and OPs from Nisemonogatari, 1080p 10-bit Satiricon subs release. The only flaw is the little delay in the subs. If any devs want me to test more, let me know, I'll be lurking for a while.

>1080p 10-bit Satiricon subs release.
Never mind, it was 8-bit... how do you see the media info in MPV? I needed to reinstall MPC.
>>
>>52573754 (cont.)
oh well w/e Hi10P is the same, I just tested with [Doki] Kikou Shoujo wa Kizutsukanai - 01 (1920x1080 Hi10P BD FLAC) [7002D134], lags in the beginning then it becomes smooth after switching between full screen/windowed multiple times.

GUI software is for retards, anon.
>>
how do I create a playlist in mpv? I want to remove vlc asap but I don't know anything else to create playlists.
>>
>>52573243
I really don't understand how people consume video, when I double click my video I just want to watch it, I don't need any ui for controlling it at all outside of keybinds. As for playlists and directory navigation a simple plugin automatically handles playing the previous/next file in a directory if I want/need that, it's much faster than opening it from some GUI every time, if you're using keybinds to do the same thing in a gui player anyway then there's really no argument for having one either in that case.

You shouldn't have to. All supported Windows versions ship with the right versions of Direct3D. It's not like OpenGL, where you need graphics driver support. Direct3D is an operating system component. Programs like IE and WMP wouldn't work if you didn't have Direct3D on your machine.
>>
>>52575710
