It's like Godwin's law but for people who think Fractal Design is "classy."

Name a quieter case for $80 than the R4/R5. ($70 right now at Newegg)
Name a feature that a more expensive case has that the R4/R5 doesn't that's worth the money.
If you're above the $30 basic box or the $50 Corsair 200R, what else is there?

As a Define R4 owner, there is nothing simpler and more elegant than this.
Everyone else I know who has a custom PC is either rocking an over the top hot wheels case, or a "classy" Corsair carbine that costs like $200, still looks like shit and built poorly.

Can't compare them when they're on sale, you retard. But the Be Quiet Silent Base 800.
>Name a feature that a more expensive case has that the R4/R5 doesn't that's worth the money.
Subjective. Any case within the R5's non-sale price range will usually have the same features. It just becomes what black box you think is the prettiest.
>If you're above the $30 basic box or the $50 Corsair 200R, what else is there?
Pic related.
But Fractal Design IS classy. You just have poor taste.

because I will use that a lot, and will definitely not accumulate dust at an insane rate
>>52537136
I've been using the same case since 2002
a chieftec dragon, I just keep modifying it to fit my needs.
lian-li is good, too

So a $130 case to compare to an $80 one. And you wonder why we might suggest the R4/R5 when that $50 is most of the way to a 240GB SSD?
>Subjective
What you mean to say is, "There isn't one."
I can make a case for why you'd want to upgrade from a milk crate to a Source 210/Core 1000. I can make a case for why you'd want to upgrade from one of those to a 200R. I can make a case for why you'd want to upgrade from that to an R4/R5. I can't make a case for anything more expensive unless you have need for more than 2 external 5.25's or have more than 10 drives.
The R4/R5 give you interior space, quiet, airflow, front panel USB 3.0 + audio, in a case that isn't overly large, at the cheapest price point.

What's wrong with fractals?

>What's wrong with fractals?
they're a bit repetitive

So?
If you wanna be mega ultra original, build your own case.
Well, Fractal makes pretty good mid-price cases. It's the "Here's your no-risk response now please kindly leave" answer to a question that shouldn't really be on /g/ in the first place.
>>52536708
fractal is simple are more importantly quiet while still having pretty good airflow and not costing a shit load.
too bad the r5 is chinkier than the r4
>>52536708
Dunno i have limited edition haf x and the extra space i use it for lots and lots of storage drives,V10 cooler and 1200W psu.
Im ok with it,its rigid as fuck and does the job

The R4 wasn't super solid either. Both me and a work mate got one and the front panel kept falling off both units. The plastic work in it was fucking cheap even outside of that issue: the USB ports didn't seem to fit into their slots very well and were visibly misaligned, and the power button felt like it was going to pop out when pressed.
I studied a friend's R3 when considering whether to return the R4 or not and it felt much better made. Sides didn't bend as much when pressed, the front panel was solid and so on. Maybe it's because the R3 used the same structure but was a bit smaller? The R4 is pretty heavy but much of that weight is just metal sheet and uselessly thin soundproofing.
It was great to build in though, could fit pretty much anything inside.

Underrated post.

FD XL Black Pearl coming through
Thermalfake's F51 actually looks like a nice alternative to the R5, for one it has a top vent with a magnetic dust cover, which doesn't look like shit when utilized, also 200mm front fan that's 26-29db quiet and it fits E-ATX/SSI-EEB boards, while the R5 is hard limited to ATX due to the tray design.
Thoughts?
My R5 is great. You're retarded if you dislike them because they're popular.

It's a meme.
People who have never even see one will tell you to buy it. It's ever so slightly less memey then telling someone to install gentoo
On /g/ it's mandatory to have a "minimalist" case that looks almost identical to a mini-fridge or a bunch of NEETS will cyber bully you.
