Step 1: Download throttle stop
Step 2: Launch and enable "power saver", this drops your multiplier more aggressively
Step 3: Go into Nvidia control panel and choose the Intel HD graphics as default processor
Step 4: Enable power saver in the W7/W8/W10 power options
Step 5: Use Edge as your browser, not Chrome
Did this in my 5 hour class. Was web browsing the entire time and had 65% battery left at the end of it.
Huge battery + downclocked Haswell/Broadwell/Skylake CPU + Disabled GPU = Just as good battery life as an ultra portable.
if stationary, just pull your battery out and go straight from the power source

And what "gaming" laptop do you have?

Congrats, you now have a 20 lbs chromebook!
You know what Kills me about "gaming" laptops? They're like the only recently affordable laptops that can actually properly dissipate the heat load. I was in the market (still am) for a laptop with an 8 thread CPU but no dedicated gpu. Intel hd is perfectly fine on a 1080p panel. As a networking major, more than once I've needed to run 2-3 VMs simultaneously. Something a dinky 4 thread or U series chip would fall on its face at.
I don't need the quadro chipset in workstation laptops either which are the only other grade of laptops with good heat dissipation. I would only truly utilize the threads for compiling and VM use so something for CAD or cuda acceleration is completely lost in me.
Is it so hard to find a 15.6" laptop with 1080p panel, I thread CPU, 2 ram slots, and WON'T let the CPU hit 90+C when doing actual work?
I'm about to pull the trigger on exactly all this from Sager for $1k, but can't find hands on about the heat.
>Inb4 just get a weak as fuck laptop and a great desktop
I already have a T420 with an i7 and a good desktop. I actually need quite a bit of power on the go.
