It's anything basic. From a snake game to a basic hotel management system (both of these ideas have been taken) . Has to have a GUI and inter code communication. Storage design.

My highschool final IT project was a cashier/store program.

Use Java's swing gui and SQL queries.
Have a GUI to input stock in into the database and a GUI to make purchases that will query the database and remove the stock once the purchase is complete.

Same as hotel, but the guest record has entries for car make, model, and license plate. :-D
