How can i use a proxy to access blocked sites at uni? I think i got it, but i have no way to test if it would work because im at home now.
That depends, how and what do they block

They block everything but email, Reddit and news pages. When you try to access anything else it instead displays a message saying "X is blocked because it is in category entertainment/arts/Y".
why not create a vpn instead and use your home internet?

I am a complete noob and i didn't know that could be done. I will be googling into it.

Use a VPN through port 53(DNS), 80(HTTP) or 443(HTTPS). They can't block those ports.

Tor + bridges

Seems like overkill, but yeah, sure. Could also do what this anon said >>52482212 or a SOCKS proxy through your SSH box.

What uni?
>>52479665
They probably have it on lockdown. Follow >>52482212's advice, and consider using a VPN on those ports or Tor.

I agree (on the school's part) if it's a University, but such restrictions are normal for K-12 schools. Colleges typically only block pornography and P2P. He must be in a really terrible or ultraconservative university.
Running a VPN from your home can work since placed rarely block residential IPs. It'll suck if you have bad upspeed, though.
