Clover just got suspended from the Play Store.
I can either upload a "new" version of Clover under another package name, which will be a new app and the download count and reviews will be gone.
Or I can appeal for the suspension and possibly get the original Clover back online.
The risk is that my Google account can be banned if they deny the appeal.

I just uploaded the new beta to the play store that fixes the freeze an hour ago. I think it got suspended because that version randomizes the top boards and I guess /a/ isn't that "sexual content" friendly.
The good news is that the new version is basically done, and reuploading the new app isn't that big of a deal now. The bad news for that is that the users won't be able to automatically update to v2.

Is an appeal worth trying? Like I said in the OP, the only change that affects this are the new top boards that get automatically loaded. Maybe if I appeal /a/ won't show op and they think it's ok.

You should appeal, they won't ban you for that little. It's always like this with flagged content, people go the path of least resistance. Flagged? When in doubt, block, safer that way. Appealed? When in doubt, unblock, saves you the hassle. Rinse and repeat.
I always used a material design version of clover. I uninstalled it by mistake and now I can't find the same apk anywhere so I'm stuck with the play store official release that is a lot more buggy than the material beta I had before

If they really don't want it on the play store there's no point in trying. Just keep it as a non-play store app and put it on fdroid or make a standalone webpage for it or something if you really care about users.

I'm not the Clover dev but the Google captcha system uses cookies to determine who you are and if you're a robot. Those same cookies don't persist on the phone.

New clover is amazing, but there's a few things I'm confused about.
Before we could swipe in from the right and it would open up the last thread we were looking at, but the new version doesn't do that.
Why is the quick jump to top/bottom button not there anymore?

Honestly I'm not going all in for the money, Clover has mainly been an app to learn Android development. But not getting any donations for months is depressing.

Custom recovery PREVENTS bricking. For Samsung devices. You need Odin, and safestrap . But since safestrap doesn't work on lollipop anymore, you need to boot to a 4.0 kernel to access it now. That's where I do my rom changes.
Sounds confusing but when you get the hang of it it's useful because it's impossible to brick it with this method.
Flashfire is needed for 5.0 to flash things like xposed.
