Once it's installed it's one of the most comfortable distros I've used. The AUR has almost everything you could need and is pretty much always up to date.

This. It's easier and faster.
Also once your done give a read-through to the gentoo and LFS guides to get a good grasp of the whole partition - chroot - install cocept. Arch simplifies everything with bash scripts. The first time I installed arch I just mindlessly obeyed the wiki and didn't really get it. Its useful knowledge for repairing damaged systems or testing stuff in a chrooted jailed environment.
