I ran gentoo for 9 years, tried archlinux which meant I had to use systemd. Didn't like it for a few days, but as I used it more and more, I came to appreciate its power.
Back on gentoo now since it's better and more flexible, but using systemd instead of openrc.
Tldr: try systemd for a week.
