they are all interpreted, dynamically typed, scripting languages with some object oriented and functional programming features although they are actually procedural.

all can be used for myriad tasks and applications and have a wide array of libraries available for use, as well as a plethora of supportive, helpful individuals in thriving communities across the world.

I've had to pick up node for my new job. I never minded javascript, but holy shit callbacks are the fucking worst. At least there are hacky ways to use async/await.

Scala, Go, or more recently Kotlin.

If you're hipster, ruby.
If you're unemployed, python.
If you're ENTERPRISE QUALITY, php.

God tier? Java.

That's it. I can't take this new generation of /g/ anymore. I'm out.

3.x if you plan on sticking with it. 2.x if you just want to use specific modules for a project or something and then never use python again. Seriously though python has the most autistic fucking devs imaginable. They will probably destroy python one day no doubt in an attempt to make it more "pythonic."
>>
perl is superior to all of these

What about node.js?

>>

Php is for poo in loos, don't bother with it.
>>
>>52411632
In my experience it means you have to write features on top of cryptic code that was written 20 years ago with no documentation and no one around from the original engineering team that wrote it.
>>
>>52411621
OP's been working on this since 2012. he wasn't able to get the NodeJS logo into the image on as little notice as 4 years.
>>
>>52409176
OP you are like a designated shitting street administrator that compares turds among the compeditors, "which turd is deh best?"
OP then takes that turd home and eats it because they said it was the best winned

shit like this is the same, turd languages, learn a real language like C family + surroundings
>>
in the real world we use C# or Java for enterprise shit
>>
>>52411587
Under rated post
>>
>>52411642
think you meant to say java
>>
All three are shit. C# for comfy development and C++ if you need the server to respond fast.
>>
>>52412826
Have you ever used g-wan server?
>>
who the fuck cares
use what you like
>>
>>52409846
Have you looked at promises? Q is nice.
>>
>>52412979
Async/await are basically just sugar for Promises, based on C#'s async/await for Tasks (if not a direct copy). Even without the sugar, Promises are nice, but most things still use callbacks (I know there are workarounds, but the point is someone had a callback fetish and now I suffer for it)
>>
>>52413475
A lot of popular modules have promise support, so you should look into those. But yeah, promises are always going to part of the language.
