I've never built before so i could use some help.
http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/YqrMLk
I definitely need a gtx 980, 16GB of RAM, a good cpu and a big HDD.
What motherboard should I get?
Is the CPU i have there ok?
>>
Also what do you think about the case?
>>
>>52379242
what are you looking to do with your build?
if gaming, then i5 is fine
if editing/rendering/cpu intensive tasks, then go i7

also your processor is at a locked frequency, so you dont need an aftermarket cooler. the stock intel cooler that comes with the processor should be fine.

case is (semi) subjective, as long as its the right size then just pick something you like.

holy fucking shit, kid

hope you're not paying for those memes
>>
>>52379242
and as for motherboards, you dont really need to spend a lot.

http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz170hd3
is a pretty good motherboard, standard stuff and just gets the job done really.
>>
>>52379616
Gaming.
Oh I didn't know about the cooler, thanks
I picked the case because I do want to add cards and stuff, I wanted something nice and roomy
>>52379646
thank

>>52379636
what
>>
>>52379242
Yeah looks good,
Any basic mobo with ddr4 support will work
>>
Also is there any way I can cut costs here without having a massive impact on performance?
>>
>>52379710
The cooler
The i5 CPU you pick in known for ow themps, and since you cant oc air wil work just fine
>>
>>52379710
1. remove cooler
2. go for a cheaper case
3. get windows 7

also you need a psu, i would recommend 600-750W, whatever you can find is cheapest.

>air wil work just fine
you're a literal retard
>>
>>52379746
Already took it off.

Thinking about a wall mount case instead btw.

oh also how powerful should my psu be?

see >>52379766
>>
>>52379919
600W should be fine.
>>
>>52379766
I put a 650W on there.
I think I will go with win 7, I've had it on my laptop for ages.
>>
>>52379242
what's your budget here?
>>
>>52380078
Fairly cheap.
About $1400 without GPU.
I'm Australian so that's almost as cheap as it gets for a decent build.
The GTX980 costs almost $800 here.
>>
>>52380135
Buy a cheaper case
Don't pay for windows
Use the extra money to get a 980ti
>>
>>52380135
alright
i'd drop windows, get a cheaper case and try to make a 6600K + GTX 980 Ti build

http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/2dfdK8

+ better CPU with good OC capabilities
+ better GPU
+ SLI support, so you could add another 980 Ti later on

i didn't check if the cooler and gpu actually fit inside that case, so do that before you even think about ordering anything.
