I grabbed a XL2420Z a couple years back to try it out. The TN shifting in just the corners killed me into selling it immediately, but the smooth frames were fantastic.

If you are wondering why these two:
-wanted to compare standard IPS vs gaming TN (I have 1080 IPS screens)
-wanted to compare standard IPS vs gaming IPS (I also have 1440p screens)

I also wanted to compare FreeSync vs G-Sync, but I could not find any good FreeSync screens on sale, so I will try again next month. For now, I can still compare Vsync vs Gsync.

Testing the screen to check for colour shifting at different angles. For a TN panel, it was actually ok. It was not noticeably worse than the IPS screens, colour-wise... but this was just a quick look-see, not a thorough check.

Is a real pain to set up properly.

Lots of tweaking with AMA / VT / Strobe phase/ Persistence. Blur busters has good explanations.

This generally leaves you with questionable colors so you then need to calibrate, which is harder with the BBR.

Attaching the stand to the base took a couple of tries, since you have to get the angle right and rotate the thing. The instructions said to attach the stand to the screen first, but it would have been easier to attach the stand to the base first.

So far, I have only played a bit of Dota 2, alternately changing the screen settings from 60Hz to 144Hz to see the difference. 144Hz is noticeably smoother, especially when moving the camera around, or following a particular unit.
>>
And that is that, for now. I am going to be using these new screens for a while, and hopefully gain a better understanding of gaming screens!

Any questions for me? Or maybe things to watch out for or investigate?
>>
>>52378455
Do you notice a difference between 60hz and 75hz?

I didnt on my 900p screen and im just wondering if my eyes suck or if its worth it to save up for 144hz
>>
>>52378493
My FPS is typically between 100-120 in Dota 2. When I first started Dota 2, I still had Vsync on, so that cut FPS in half, to 72. I could not really tell that there was a difference between 60 and 72. It was only after I disabled Vsync that the difference was very clear.
>>
>>52378455
For the 144Hz screen, find a way to turn on the strobe backlight. This anon's post >>52378387 should lead you in the right direction .

As the owner of a monitor with a strobe backlight, the difference is kinda baffling in terms of how smooth motion can be.

You can test comparisons here between on and off once you got it up and running.

Thats good to know.

Im planning a pretty big upgrade. Currently on a gtx 570 and 75hz 900p screen.

Want a 1080p 144hz screen with possibly gtx 980 sli. Or whatever is good at the time. 960 is too weak and im not getting a 970.
>>
>>52378567
Noted.

>once you got it up and running
I will be honest: I expected this to be plug and play, but it took a while to setup. So if you are buying a gaming screen, give yourself some time to read and test.

>>
>>52378593
>gtx 980 sli
That is severe overkill for 1080p. I am driving 3x1440p screens, one of them at 144Hz, on a single 290.

...of course, I am only playing lighter games, but you get the picture.

I live in SEA, so I do not know if they are interested in sending stuff halfway across the world. Also, I am happy to point out problems, issues, and flaws that I find in any products. Companies will probably want me to sign something that says: "You must review this as 8/10 or higher or else we will never give you stuff."
>>
>>52378857
Fair enough. I've only been in contact with a reviewer once and have no clue what the terms are for those products.
>>
I am going afk for a bit. If you have any questions regarding gaming screens, do post. I cannot answer everything yet (I have had these screens for 2 days), but I can check!
>>
>>52378567
Properly set up Blur reduction makes a bigger difference than 144hz for motion clarity.

The Benq's are nice as a review monitor because they generally have the nicest strobe system (certainly the best customization) .

>>52378528
>100-120 FPS this will tear noticeably with BBR enabled

Mid 200s is a nice aim but I haven't managed to get this in dota 2. CSGO works well tho.

Vsync puts you a frame behind.

Do you have a (good) Colorimeter / spectrophotometer? I'd be interested in you results there. Also your observations on high FPS tearing non sync tearing.

I haven't used the monitors in this thread. But that Cooler Master case in the OP I own. I was/am very unimpressed by it. I don't know whether it's just not built solidly enough or if it's something else, but it vibrated a lot, making an annoying, pulsating buzzing sound. I suspect the designers were all "Well, we can put the bays in, but really, nobody's gonna put more than one spinning-disc drive in there, right? And surely it'll be 5400 rpms" I tried all sorts of things - putting heavy stuff on top of it, putting putty at joints between piece of the case, rearranging the drives.. - and it still buzzed. I can't believe I fell for the ITX meme. I plugged in an old 32GB SSD and a NIC and run pfsense on it now.

but anyway, all these pics you took, well, I gotta.... hand it to you.
