There once was an anon who had nostalgia
His goggles made him forget the bad, this was when he still did algebra
But little did he know
The old shit had to go
Or else he'd probably be jerking off to it forever

Thank you, thank you... but seriously these threads are fucking shit nostalgia is a cancer wherein you only remember the good

do you remember those disgusting "private" IRC circlejerks comprising of 6 - 8 losers who eventually start banning everyone once they start fapping to their inside jokes?

This is how it starts.

pretending to be old is quite the bad meme, I see a lot of 20 - 25 year olds do this because they think it makes them cool or something. This is about as childish as playing cops and robbers. I know that a lot of actual old people shit on you for it but the meme should end with you.

Nostalgia on the internet is entry level ageism and we were here in the first place to eliminate our faces and judge things based on the content of the post and is therefore the most ironic and stupid possible thing to post online.
>>
>>52375863
this cuts deeply, anon

can't we just celebrate a simpler, more innocent time without having to be exclusionary?
>>
>>52375830
Yup I certainly remember it along with ask.com, sure was fun spending 20 minutes clicking on the first 40 "results" and an hour of reading to find the information I wanted

I even remember how they had "advanced" searches that were so horrid it was almost best to use them as a double negative so as to put in the most opposite thing in there so it would actually look up what you wanted... maybe!

thankfully this still survived today as robots.txt so autists can block out the internet in their aimless psuedo search for "privacy"

This is regrettably a meme as the same exact thing was said for the 2 or 3 year period around >>52376029
same shit different name, that time it was "eternal september".

I saw some 80s fucks use PCs with no monitor, it would reprint the page or conversation every time they logged into the BBS. I think they call that teletype. I'm sure you can find someone from this time who would say that as soon as monitors became cheap and accessible, the BBS networks went to shit.

You realise that by saying this, you're about as bad as the walmart macfag? The guy who was so angry that walmart didn't sell macs, and "there shouldn't be a computer for less than $3,000"

ageism is still acceptable to do

>I didn't like him... because he was black (and therefore inexperienced)
instant termination

>I didn't like him... because he wasn't a she (and therefore inexperienced)
instant termination

>I didn't like him... because he was too young (and therefore inexperienced)
still "acceptable"

with no counter argument having been given to this being a meme regarding eternal september, I shall tip my fedora and be on my way.

Just kidding. I'm curious what the next iteration of this garbage will be.

>"the internet was bad after eternal september"
>"the internet was bad after mobile devices"
>"the internet was bad after congress passed a law making isp service free"
>"the internet was bad after we passed 10 billion people"
>"the internet was bad once our new planet's colonists linked up with us"

There's still hope for you /g/... wait for a new planet to be colonized and be a vocal fuck then and there, so you can have a small private planet of people on an intranet and still never leave the house and meet them, to keep the illusion going that they're interesting people

>>52375494
>evading the wordfilter

>>
>>52376322
That's not true.

An SNES complete set alone is a little under 3GB compressed.

A realistic estimate for every known unique dump from a home cartridge pre-64 is more like 20GB.

If you count arcade roms, which you probably should, a complete MAME set is over 100GB.

Just because the internet can get worse doesn't mean it isn't bad now because of x.

>His goggles made him forget the bad, this was when he still did algebra
just wow
>>
>>52377928
Yes, I forgot to mention I don't really count 100 dumps of the same game. Outside of pal/ntsc and versions, what's the point of all those?

Still on an average desktop hard drive you can fit all of this. And not about to get into this argument but the other problem is that a lot of this data was in an uncompressed format. I'm curious if anyone has ever calculated what the size of all PSX games would be and compare it if you could have compressed video.

Dude...

There is a private tracker in the private tracker threads where all they do is romsets/isos of every console up to the current gen and they have a complete* set for every one.

*complete to varying degrees. A purist would say "every known unique hash", which on 8-bit and earlier is trivial. 16-bit forward is usually all regions and known revisions, and PS1 forward is usually just US/JAP/any unique UK only.

>>
>>52378546
For instance, a complete PSX NTSC-U set can be yours for the low low price of 457.64GB, which is really not too shabby.

This tracker even has 6TB of PS2 images, complete US, Euro, and Jap.

This known stuff, especially for consoles with overbearing fanbases like dreamcast.
